Stayed at this resort and the brand name SandandSandals Desaru Resort. Recently received my Maybank statement but branded asPulai Desaru Resort. What a shocking mistake found. Rather confusing the customers expectations

Quieter than before but then this is what I like about the hotel. Water spots is now operating as is easy to play with the equipment especially now they do some exclusive packages. Upgraded to the private pool again which is not cheap but so unusual and makes if just more enjoyable with my partner even in the rain. Pools are good and bar area still the same relaxing and having a bucket of beer. Liked the new tree house and had a really nice romantic meal one night just by the sea. Pity about the band but lets hope it comes back soon.

I found this big fat roach under the bed when i was searching for my son’s toys. Disgusting... Thankfully it was a few hours before we check out. Never expecting this from a 5 star hotel. It is not acceptable 🤦🏻‍♂️

Spent 2 nights during recent Merdeka weekend. Room was good- spacious, airy, huge bathroom. Beach was clean, not a lot of beach activities available though. Reception wss friendly and accommodating. Here comes the worst part, food tasted horrible, lack of seasoning, very plain and scarce protein in the main dishes. They couldn't cater for the huge holiday crowd. On top of that because of covid we needed to wait for the staffs to serve us instead. Food continuously runs out and we needed to wait for the chef to cook a new batch. We tried the in room dining with similar experience. Tasteless and had to wait for a lonnnnggggg time for it to be delivered. Verdict: won't go there again On the other hand we had buffet dinner at Sessions, Hard Rock it was fabulous, everything was organized, prompt and clean. Sanitizer was abundant and everyone courteous and friendly.

Many unpleasant occasions to begin with from the OTA cancelling our stay without acknowledging us... to the long wait for our room.... to the horrifying big fat cockroaches... to no proper social distancing SOPs in place. FO finally resolved the issue when they received a cancellation from another guest. But really i think room#125 on the ground floor is not fit and only in desperate cases they will release this room. Although the rooms were a good size and had a nice layout but the smell was so unpleasant.. very old musky smell lingered throughout and what was most horrifying was the ground floor room we stayed at Room#125 had at least 3 huge cockroaches crawling around just as we were about to sleep!! Two in the bathroom, another at the sink. We couldn't sleep a wink in fear that the roaches will be crawling on the beds . Hope management resolves this! was so eager to check out the very next day and head to another hotel. This is a big issue and S&S Hotel need to look into this immediately. • Staff doesn't seem to care with the many uneducated guests walking around the hotel without a mask. Especially during breakfast. There was no social distancing practiced . they would line up close to others in the queue and not wear a mask, many will be talking over the food and not bothered to cover up. Senior citizens too... just helping themselves at unattended food stalls . • Kids below 12 have to pay RM18 for the breakfast. but the quality of the food was very poor. the mee hailam was basically just starch - fish cake and yellow noodles • FO staff was not very tactful in handling a situation where there was a mix-up and another OTA made a cancellation without informing guests . While waiting to resolve this issue, i humbly asked for a WiFi password for my son, so i could keep him occupied but FO staff told me i am not a guest so she cannot give me the password!!! Wow in most hotels WiFi is free . i was quite taken aback with this response and it showed in my expression - she then immediately gave me the password for 'public' use WiFi . to begin with ...how difficult was that? I understand it was a busy weekend with limitation of staff etc but sometimes being tactful and hospitable goes a long way. All in all we had a terrible experience at this hotel. sorry would not recommend.
