For people who have never visited Africa before, this is a very good middle ground. For Western travelers, it provides the essentials, including a toilet and shower, and the lucky ones even get hot water. But when I was there, the building itself was being renovated, and from my perspective, I don't think they will improve the experience. The rooms are separated by a great distance, with never ending hallways and awkward placements for some rooms. The hotel has an unnecessarily confusing layout and is very easy to lose your way. The staff is very helpful, but for the amount of the cost you will pay, I would suggest another location.

I stayed at the pope paul memorial hotel in February 2020 for two nights. The place was clean and neat. The food was served on time. I liked their brunch idea because it allowed you to leave the hotel after a heavy meal and explore Impala's neighboring attractions. I was able to get to a few attractions on foot, including the Rodabak Cathedral, the Kayaks Lake, the Balance, etc. The staff was courteous and friendly.

If you have my taste, I recommend the place. During my vacation in Uganda, I stayed at the pope paul memorial hotel. This hotel is run by the Catholic Church of Uganda and a great place to travel on a budget. My meal was cheap and I liked the local food. It was also an excellent place to have brunch! The employees are friendly, and it is a good place for meetings.

This isn't my first visit to Africa. I'm aware things are very different from what I'm used to in the u.s. The beds were cozy, and the rooms were clean. It had a lovely balcony area and plenty of storage. There was just one station and a news station on to. The bathroom was adequate. There wasn't a shower curtain, but a bucket was provided. Water flow was sufficient. Water was warm. Very poor illumination is present. Some of the hallways were illuminated very dimly at night, if they were at all lit. I was a little concerned that these hallways were perhaps devoid of visitors or were trying to save energy? Also, I was traveling with my children. We were divided into three distinct rooms. There is no way to communicate between rooms, and the wifi is at best subpar. The meal and beverage were pretty good. The compound felt secure and was beautifully landscaped. With the exception of the courtyard area in the rooms area, it appears as if they were considering building another building and stopped. American standards wouldn't disagree. Much superior than Howard Johnson or the Red Roof. Maybe it's a really lovely location in Africa.

Located at rutabaga impala stenseera road after Debra, one of the memorial sites hotels uganda has, owned by the church of Uganda. This place is a good hotel that is worth your money.
