We loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again on a future trip. The space is so unique and fun, the staff is very nice, the room is spacious and comfortable. Very unusually we had both dinner and brunch in the hotel which were both delicious (best donut I ever had).

Walking into the Tabard Inn is like stepping back in time. It is comfortable and interesting, not luxurious. Beautiful woodwork, electic artwork, and rugs galore line the halls. Our beds were comfortable and our room was artfully decorated, but there was no television. I enjoyed reading my book, slept well and then had a nice breakfast the next morning.

What an awesome historical find. So cool, charming, and neat all at the same time. Only stayed one night however kept noticing little details about the inn each time we came in and, 100% better than staying at sterile no feels plain drywall Hilton. Breakfast was awesome and they happened to have some jazz the night we were there, not that those are super important. Either way definitely suggest checking it out we would stay again so e could try the bar and maybe even dinner. Good location as well.

The Tarbard is very charming and quirky. It's like staying at your Grandma's best friend's fancy house. Lots of art and antiques.

Great location, great restaurant/bar, and large rooms. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are quirky and there are no elevators, so it’s not for everyone—but I’ll be back.

What a surprise to walk in to the Tabard. Everything I had heard was true: beautiful, eclectic, totally personalized experience. Each meeting space is unique. My room was beautiful and fun. The food was delicious and creative. The employee-owner ethos is a bonus.

Staying at the Tabard Inn is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. This historic gem is full of character, charm, and personality—you can feel the history the moment you walk through the door. I absolutely loved the eclectic art throughout the property. Every corner feels thoughtfully curated, making it as much an experience as it is a place to stay. It’s warm, inviting, and refreshingly different from typical hotels. It’s important to note—this is not your standard modern hotel. There’s no central air or heat, and no elevator, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. If you appreciate unique, historic spaces, you’ll find it adds to the authenticity rather than detracts from it. And the bulldogs? An unexpected and delightful touch that made the stay even more memorable. The breakfast is simply amazing—fresh, delicious, and the perfect way to start your day in DC. If you’re looking for something unique, cozy, and full of personality, the Tabard Inn is an absolute treat.

Stayed here for one night and thought this was a unique place to stay. It is full of interesting art and antiques. There are many sections of the restaurant which are all different and worth sering. The food is really great and service is too. The room we had was very comfortable especially the bed. This is a place that does not have elevators, television or multiple electrical outlets for devices. It is a place you don't need these things. It is meant to be a getaway and place to be comfortable with friends and loved ones. Explore the area. There is plenty to do.

Lovely artsy place, opened since 1920! Each room is different and the restaurant and patio are wonderful. Stairs not ideal for heavy luggage. Will stay there again.

Check in was a breeze; room was quaint and quiet; and the staff is perfection! The restaurant has excellent food with very attentive but not overly intrusive staff. While I have been going to the Tabard Inn for more than fifty years, I had never stayed at the hotel, I will definitely stay again! And a BIG plus--it is within walking distance to my office!

This Inn has more character in its pinky than most hotels have on both hands. LOVED my stay here and will always come here now when visiting DC.
