Our 4 nights at Amritara were the best experience so far in India. The hospitality and friendliness is outstanding. From communicating with the manager to book to the friendly reception we received by Harikrishna to the delicious food Sunny cooked for us twice a day and the lovely housekeeping ladies, this was a highlight for us. The tents are beautiful, decorated with heavy teak furniture, comfortable bed and great balcony chairs, we had huge windows to view the river and the lush landscape. Bathrooms was very nice, fresh drinking water in the room as well. We especially enjoyed our morning bike ride with Harikrishna to the suspension bridge and a long walk in the adjacent village. It’s a bird watchers paradise. We definitely will come back one day to enjoy the serenity after being in Delhi and Kochi

Restaurant staff borderline unfriendly. Lots of miscommunication from bookings person that led to a lot of avoidable stress and triple check if they have availbility during peak times even if Expedia says they have plenty of tents avail. Superb location / cabins and we Loved kayaking on Periyar. Early morning mist magical. If travelling with children its not actually that family freindly. Take a lot of snacks. Expect river to be out of bounds and bikes and kayaking equipment to only suit large adults. Buffet dinner good value. Lunch exorbitant for a very meagre thali. Loved being there overall and if you set expectations low on the points mentioned that need attn, then Im sure youll love it too.

Poor lighting around tents. Pretty distant from sanctuary. Otherwise , great place to be in for a short holiday. Riverside view good. Didn’t get to see much birds in the camp. Food options limited. No in house restaurant. Courteous staff.

Located in a beautiful setting, right by the river. Good for bird-watching. However, the shower room was very basic and the tent walls were dirty inside - overpriced for what it is. Some of the male staff in the reception/restaurant area were not very friendly or attentive at all.
