This place is excellent, with excellent service. The reception in Ginzan is open and inviting. When the car entered the parking lot, there was already a vehicle with a driver in hand waiting to load our luggage and drive us 200 meters to the hotel entrance. The hotel lobby is roomy. The timing of dinner and breakfast was determined and stated on the memo to us as soon as we arrived. I adore the spaciousness of the room. It is roomy and offers a view of the forest and a small stream. The hotel is accommodating in offering some snacks, which helps you decide on local food to buy in their shop. The fact that some work is going on and we were unable to see the view from the starting point was a waste. The temperature is not too high, however, the start is very comfortable. Just enjoy relaxing in the open.

The hotel is extremely big and provides excellent train station pick-up and drop-off services. The reception area feels like a mega motel, with staff with headphones trying to coordinate the check-in process for dozens of arrivals. The rooms are very spacious and have amazing views of the forest and a nice outdoor bath. The shared onset facilities are also very nice, with a large outdoor onset with really nice views. Dinner was disappointing for the price, I must say. Nothing really special about what we ate. Service feels a bit rushed, compared to a typical onset Roman experience. The hotel is walking distance to the old town, but in winter the walk is a bit far because the road is frozen, slick and downhill with many cars passing by.

Ginzan hotels service is excellent. It begins when the car gets to the parking lot. There was already a car with a driver waiting for us to load our luggage and drive us 200 m to the hotel entrance. The hotel lobby is enormous. The moment we entered, the timing for dinner and breakfast was decided and noted in the memo to us. I love the size of the room. It's spacious with a view of the forest and a small stream. The hotel is generous in providing snacks, helping you decide on local food to buy in their shop. It's just wasted that some work was going on and we couldn't see the view in the open start. However, the start is very comfortable as the temperature isn't too hot. Soaking in the open is wonderful.

Overall, our ginzan and ginzan onset experiences were above our expectations. We were quite fortunate to have the first few days of snow. It was incredible to see a full night of snow transform the small town and the surroundings into white. For the initial week of December, we had limited time in Japan, so we were very fortunate to be able to reserve a room just two weeks in advance for a Wednesday night visit. We made our reservations on the Ginzan website, which is mostly in Japanese, but it should be fairly simple using Google Translate. We took the touristonly or pass oneway bus from tokyo station on the Yamagata line to Ishida station, which took us only an hour to get to Ginzan onset. Instead of the ginzansos free shuttle, which we would have to wait an hour because they have a limited service schedule to manage only certain train arrivals.
