The okunikko dongshi hotel's charm has faded, but like an actress in her heyday, she still has a depth of character. Fall was a good time to stay at this hotel because the seasons matched the hotel's mood. Dinner party reveled the glory the hotel must have enjoyed during the height of its career. A multicourse Japanese meal with sashimi trout so fresh that the gills were still pulsing! The staff shares the hotel's charm. From the humorous and funny doorman to the store clerk, who when above called to give us directions to a sake brewery after we showed interest in the sakes on sale, the employees are far more engaging than the usual efficient but modest staff found in most Japanese hotels. The start is a little small, but average overall quality. The hotel's brightness has really faded off in the rooms. Ours, even though spacious, had a lot of use. All the carpets, fixtures, and molding are badly worn out. I would return to enjoy the meals and the staff, but I wouldn't stay in the rooms.

We picked this hotel based on a very favorable tripadvisor review. However, when we got there, it was quite typical roman for us. It took more than 40 minutes to drive from nikki town to this location. The road is very winding and challenging to drive, and there are many 90 degree or sharp turns on the way to the hotel. Very difficult for an inexperienced driver like us. Quite far from the lake or nikki town. The bathroom is a little old and no soap or shampoo. I understand that they expect us to take a bath at first, but our parents prefer to shower in their room. So it's odd that there is no soap or shampoo at all. Starting is a bit small, but it's fine for me. The staff is very limited in English, but they are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and good. We didn't try dinner at the hotel.
