The afternoon tea at no. 1 was excellent. We sat in a bright, sunny room and savored our tea and bubbles along with scones and sandwiches. The sweets were light and airy. The staff was courteous and attentive.

Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and i will definitely stay at the hotel again in the future. I went to guesthouse no. 1 for afternoon tea. The hotel is absolutely stunning, with a very interesting and quirky interior. The room where afternoon tea is served is beautiful, bright, very inviting, and comfortable. The staff member who sat us down noticed on the booking note that we were celebrating so we received a nice little treat from the team which was very sweet of them. We were given plenty of time to enjoy our drinks before we were served food and teas. It was such a nice environment and the food was delicious. Fresh baked scones with clotted cream and jam. The sandwiches were also delicious. They cater for vegetarians too, so that was good. The environment gives you a very high class and luxurious feeling, but very friendly and relaxing.

We had a very good experience during our stay at the top hotel, I really appreciate their good service quality, the comfortable room for a reasonable price, and the low price for most of the resorts in this place. And then, the staff was really friendly as was the cuisine. After that, this hotel is in an excellent position, near the beach and pier. Hence, I only recommend this location to you guys.

The room was comfortable and very stylish, with great attention to detail. We also really enjoyed the communal snack cupboard. Would definitely recommend it. Walking distance to york city center without being too surrounded by noise.

This is a great place to stay. We had a room on the road which wasnt good because of the road noise, especially when it rained, hence the 3 star. But mentioned this to reception and gave us a discount for our stay which was a nice gesture. They mentioned that they have put secondary glazing in most rooms and said they will put the one we stayed in on the list. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the head barman really knew his stuff and was very tentative about our needs. Would we stay here again, a sure yes and if the room noise was cancelled, a five star would be looming.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay here. From the moment i received my first phone call with any questions, the team was incredibly attentive. Geoff, who met us at the station to whisk away our luggage, was incredibly kind in providing directions, and the lovely bar manager spoke passionately about the cocktails and how they were prepared! It was honestly the best experience, the hotel itself is stunning and thoughtful, but the team added a special touch. We are grateful for having us, and we will definitely be returning to york and other guesthouses!.

Excellent hotel with friendly staff who went above and beyond for you. The guest room we stayed in was lovely, and the little touches like the record player and record selection are a really nice touch. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it was very high standard and delicious. The bar area is very cozy and warm. The room we had was quite small and cramped. Good for a few nights stay, but if you stay longer you will be short on clothing space. Bar prices were very steep, ps 10 for a glass of chardonnay. But i would definitely stay here again.

The food was delicious and i loved the atmosphere of the bar and restaurant downstairs. The room was spacious, cozy and clean. The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldnt have done more for us.

We stayed at no. 1 by guesthouse, york on our way to get married in scotland. We were so impressed with the hotel from the moment we arrived. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Its a Grade ii listed regency townhouse that has been beautifully renovated to a high standard. Our room was spacious and stylish, with a luxurious bathroom. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, including a Nespresso machine, fluffy bathrobes, and slippers. The hotel has a great restaurant, pearly cow, where we enjoyed some delicious meals. We also liked the bar, which has a great selection of drinks. The spa staff was very professional and the treatment was amazing. If you are looking for a luxurious and relaxing stay in york, no.1 by guesthouse, is the perfect choice.

We had a great time! Although the hotels atmosphere is enjoyable, the staff went above and beyond by being extremely helpful and attentive. We had a great time at the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The best part was a pair of brompton bikes that we borrowed for a bike down by the river. Many thanks!.

The guesthouse no. 1 exudes grandeur from beginning to end. Walking up the stairs and into the foyer, you are immediately greeted by elegant and quintessentially Georgian decor, which extends to the rooms and reception. The service provided by every member of the hotel staff, including the cleaners, waiters, and porters, was impeccable, ensuring guests were well taken care of and comfortable. There were several features that set this hotel apart from others, including the spa, located in the vaults below the hotel, my personal favorite special touch, and a pantry available to guests at no extra cost. Also available to guests was the use of bicycles and umbrellas. Well within walking distance of york city center, this hotel provides the perfect accommodation for anyone looking to explore the beautiful city streets in comfort and luxury.

A wonderful hotel from start to finish. The guest room was a perfect size. The bath was amazing. The spa is a new experience for us but a wonderful treat after our wedding the weekend before - Thank you, sophia and suzie! We would definitely return, not just for the pantry!.

I cant recommend this place enough! I had an amazing overnight spa experience! The staff is fantastic, the rooms are beautiful, and booking through the hotel directly is a fantastic benefit. I stayed with a friend and had spa treatments on the morning of checkout. The spa treatments were amazing, and we left feeling calm and relaxed. When booking, we were informed that breakfast would be reduced due to refurbishment, instead of a cooked breakfast, we had a delicious light breakfast of fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt, and granola brought to our room. The food was of high quality. I was sorry to leave and am already looking forward to booking again later in the year.

We stayed for three nights, it was in a great location and an easy walk to the city center. I think the hotel is beautiful, our room was clean and fresh, and the bed slanted to one side. I didnt sleep well for all three nights due to hearing every noise from above us and next door to us, as well as a noisy, very busy road outside. The rooms have lovely old floorboards, which is nice, but probably one of the reasons you hear everyone else much more than you would if the rooms had carpet. Dogs can stay, which is nice, but all i could hear was a dog dropping its ball and its paws at 6 am above our room onto wooden floorboards, not ideal. The restaurant was great with the jazz evening going on, and the lounge area with the bar is very comfortable with a nice open fire going on. Breakfast is expensive if you only want something light, maybe an option to not have two courses would be better suited for some, the food was very good all the same. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and helpful at all times. I wouldnt stay again just on the noise front.

Ive been here a few times since the renovation, and its been wonderful. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind. The rooms are fantastic, and i always love to bring a record to spin. The pantry is also fantastic. Fill your boots! I am now banned.

We will cherish our time in york forever. Our stay here was perfect, i mean that too. Once booked directly with the hotel, we were emailed to inquire about any special occasions for our visit or if we would like to arrange a luggage collection from the station to free us of our bags, i thought this was an incredibly nice touch and excellent service right away. When we arrived at the station we had some trouble finding the pub because there was some construction going on inside the station, but a gentleman from the hotel took our bags and loaded on his bike before letting us go he offered us a map of york and a sparkling beverage each, our impressions of the hotel were high and we hadnt even seen it yet. We continued exploring york for the afternoon bag and was hasslefree, by late afternoon we decided to head to check out the hotel and get ready for dinner. It was a short walk from the city center, and we even stopped for some bakery treats along the way. Once at the hotel, it just looked like a doll house and was immediately welcomed with their trademark kind service. I didnt have to hand over my credit card or fill out any unnecessary forms most other hotels require at check in, i was just handed our keys and asked if a table would be arranged for dinner, we accepted and was led to our room, stopping along the way to check out the pantry (free to all guests). Our room was just as imagined, a cute and comfortable room with lovely touches that made it feel like it was from a fairy tale. The bed was soft and comfortable, and our room on the top floor was quiet, we didnt hear any other guests. In summer, i would imagine it would be hot, like most uk hotels do not have air conditioning. A very pleasant stay, and we look forward to testing out their new Brighton addition in 2023. My new favorite hotel! I adore this location. A short stroll will get you to the city center from a peaceful and secure area of the city. I adore the little things, the kind personnel, and the fantastic spa.

My partner and i recently got back from a wonderful stay at this place. The lovely building, the delicious food, and the nice and friendly staff. I loved the decor, the quirky things, and the free touches. Yes, we raided the sweetie pantry. The nostalgic record player in the room transported me back to my youth! The northern soul lp was my favorite. We will definitely be returning for our next trip to york.
