The station was originally built during Indonesia’s colonial period and was only renovated recently to support more departures and add more new buildings or areas to the premises. Within the station, facilities include accessible pathways, parking spaces, waiting areas, information desks, toilets, and ticketing counters. The station also serves commuter trains heading to Medan, Siantar, and even the Kualanamu International Airport.
