Solo Balapan Station

Located at Jalan Wolter Monginsidi 112, Solo Balapan Station is one of the main train stations in town, aside from Solo Jebres Station and Purwosari Station. One of the oldest train stations in Indonesia overall, it got its name due its construction on what used to be a former horse racing track (Balapan translating to racing in Indonesian). 

 

Aside from long distance trains and the KA BIAS airport train, the station also serves as a stop for the Yogyakarta commuter line, which connects Solo to Yogyakarta and other cities throughout Central Java. Currently, facilities include waiting areas, ticket counters and machines, information points, and charging stations. Once within the departures area, there is also a VIP lounge, restaurants, and shops. Passengers can make use of nursing rooms, an ATM gallery, a health clinic, toilets, and a prayer area as well.
