I stayed here for one night. First of all, the hotel location is good near the metro line with multiple intersections. Breakfast buffet is ok, and the hotel has a pub and message centre as well if you have time. Overall a good stay experience though the reception staff hardly speak English.

Id definitely stay here again. My partner and I were so pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our stay at New Beacon was. The reviews we read were fairly neutral, so we were expecting an average stay, but that changed as soon as we entered our room.. What can only be described as a 1970 s bamboo love cot. Easily the grooviest room in Shanghai for that price. Spacious bedroom, desktop computer, pleasant shower, living area with a lime green couch, glass wall displaying fake bamboo and small stuffed pandas, and two tes in case you and your lover have different tastes in chinese soap. Amazing. There is no smoking in the room, but there was an ash tray on top of a glass coffee table filled with synthetic rose petals. I suppose just for the atmosphere. More good stuff free water and coffee in the room. Short, cheap taxi ride to line 11 station which took us straight to shanghai disneyland. The woman who checked us out spoke excellent English, helped us order a cab to the city, and called us when the staff discovered our headphones we left behind in the room. I think a bar restaurant, which I think was called Georgian, is across the street, with latenight snacks, great beer, and early openings for coffee and juice.

The hotel is a little old, the room and bed all normal. Good thing a big power adaptor, the international connection is useful for foreigners. The staff seemed not happy the day. The room card was limited, only one could be supplied and must be returned. or you have to pay a fine. 1015 minutes to the subway station.

The location is close to the metro station and a short walk away, making commutes simple. They also give a good breakfast. And then, the atmosphere in the room was very good. After that, the service was nice.
