Public policy
- Every passenger must occupy the seat which is determined during check-in.
- Carry-on baggage must be put in luggage compartment or below the passenger’s seat.
- Cellphones and any electrical devices must be switched off or alter to flight mode, especially during take off and landing.
- Please tighten your seatbelt, fold the table, put your seat upright, and open the window during take off and landing.
- It is against the law and strictly prohibited to smoke anywhere in the aircraft during the flight.
Expectant Mother Policy
- Passengers with a gestational age of 36 weeks or more are not permitted to fly.
- KLM also does not recommend passengers to take flights within the first week after giving birth.
- Passengers with multiple pregnancies are advised to consult their obstetrician or private midwife before joining the flight.
- Passengers with pregnancy complications must submit medical documents from a doctor.
Specific Medical Condition Policy
- Passengers with special needs must be accompanied by someone who can assist them during the flight.
- The airline provides KLM Cares service; passengers can book this service at least 48 hours before departure.
- Passengers who require special services must check-in at least one and a half hours before the standard check-in time.
- Passengers with the criteria below must fill out medical information form A, and personal doctor must complete and sign medical information form B. Be sure to submit this form to Airport Medical Services at least 48 hours before departure.
- Passengers suffering from a contagious disease.
- Passengers who will need medical care or will be dependent on specific medical equipment during the flight.
- Passengers who have a medical condition that could result in a life-threatening situation or could require the provision of exceptional medical care for their safety during the flight.
- Passengers who cannot use the airplane seats in a normal, upright position.
- Passengers suffering from a disease or physical condition that results in unusual behavior that could have an adverse effect on the welfare and comfort of other passengers or crew or could be considered a potential hazard to the safety of the flight or its punctuality.
- Pregnant passengers with known complications.
- Unaccompanied passengers with a psychological disorder who require assistance.
Infants and Children Policy
- Infants under two years of age must be on the lap of an adult during the flight.
- Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If traveling with more than one infant, a seat must be purchased for each additional infant.
- To reserve a seat, please contact KLM.
- Children under 5 years old can only fly if they are accompanied by their parents or guardians with a minimum age of 18 years.
- Children traveling without an adult must register for the Unaccompanied Minors service.
- Children can bring their own electronic equipment, such as tablets, but must set it to airplane mode.
Unaccompanied Minors
- The Unaccompanied Minors Service must be booked for children aged 5 to and including 14 years old traveling alone or traveling in a different class of travel than the accompanying parent or adult.
