Located at the western tip of South Sulawesi Province, Palopo covers an area of about 247.52 km² and has a strong coastal atmosphere. Before the name Palopo existed, the region was known as Ware. Around 1604, the name ‘Palopo’ began to appear, coinciding with the establishment of the historic Jami’ Tua Mosque. In the Luwu Bugis language, ‘Palopo’ refers to a traditional snack made from sticky rice, coconut milk, and palm sugar.
