We were a group of 10 Americans celebrating a birthday. We remained at the castle for two weeks. Our hosts, Silvia, Aldo, and Key the Dog, were fantastic while we were there. They gave us freedom and privacy to enjoy ourselves, but were always available whenever we requested. Silvia cooked us delectable homemade meals on request, introduced us to Italian wines, led us on incredible hikes with local guides, interpreted for us when needed, and gave us countess tips for excursions and local events. The truffle festival was fantastic fun. The very small town of Montembrero is close to the castle, and the slightly larger town of Cocoa is close by on foot. Both have local markets and stores. Be aware of the mid-afternoon closures beginning around 14 o'clock. Everything we needed, including kitchen supplies to spacious, fluffy bath towels, was abundant in the castle. The sunsets and views from the outdoor seating and picnic area were breathtaking. We heartily suggest this location.

We stayed five nights at Borgo Fontanini with Silva and Aldo. You will not regret visiting this lovely place as the accommodation is second to none, with a truely farmhouse feel, but with the luxuries of a dishwasher, nice bathrooms and quality beds. The highlight of the stay (if there can be only one) was our fabulous hostess, Silva. From the moment we arrived to our departure, Silva provided everything we needed with a happy smile and friendly nature. Thank you Silva for making this a truely memorable stay. I recommend that people take the time to stay at Borgo Fontanini and use it as a base from which to explore Florence, Bologna, Parma and our favourite Modena.

This lovely location is really worth a try! My girlfriend and I stopped by for a few days in cocoa and had the pleasure of falling in this lovely place. A comfortable corner in the midst of the moments surrounding hills with an ancient medieval tower where you can sleep inside and a wonderful view terrace where you can enjoy the delicious locally produced food and wine for an amazing brunch. If you want, you can also take cooking lessons. The atmosphere is rare and calm and the manors are very kind and well-organized.

I realised the price was very high given the short stay and the low accommodation. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is also fantastic for visiting the Apennines and Bologna, and also to check out a local market. They also provided a lift to take me up the steep staircase.

First sight is mystic for someone living in a bustling city! I can say it's a little far from the city, etc. but who says you want to be close? Of course you need a car. There are some delicious places to eat within a 5 minute drive. It's a little frightening when you're late to get to the house, but you can't be late to see the sunset! Thank you so much to Aldo and Silvia for supporting my loneliness until they could meet. 31.30 a. M.

We an Australian family of three myself, my husband, and our 12 year old son stayed at Casa forte at Forgo Fontanini in early October and fell in love with this beautiful place. The evening sunsets from the outdoor terrace with a bottle of wine will remain a favorite memory from our trip to Italy. The proprietor and host silvia is warm, friendly and generous. The highlight of our trip was the all day cooking class she hosted on our last day we shared stories, wine, and great food. Silvia has information about local restaurants and hiking trails and patiently helped me improve my Italian. She has local produced honey and delicious! Wine which we enjoyed. Casa forte was beautifully decorated and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. The surrounding area includes small villages with local restaurants and small shops, and some with small supermarkets. We drove to moment, Bologna, and the two ferrari museums on day trips but would like to spend more time exploring the smaller villages the next time. We don't want to go out and would love to return to spend more time at this beautiful place and with Silvia, Aldo, and Key the dog.
