Despite being a foreigner in a commonly Japanese space, I was treated with the utmost care and respect. Being able to sample multiple variations of green tea (leaps and bounds more complex than any I had tasted back home) while looking out across the lake was an unforgettable experience. I wish I had stayed an extra night so I could experience a few more of the available services, but I did manage to purchase some tea leaves and orange juice for the journey. A top nitch experience all around.

Wow what a wonderful place! We had a room with a private onsen on the balcony and it was well worth it. We stayed here as a part of a longer Japan trip and appreciated being so well taken care of, from the exemplary service to the traditional and carefully prepared Japanese meals. The views from the room were breathtaking and made for an extra-relaxing weekend. We felt fully immersed in Japanese culture from the tea to the yukata, and we felt welcomed despite being the only North Americans there (as far as we could see). The property is a bit far from the station or the centre of town, but there are still many sights to see such as the amusement park, zoo, and flower park. If you stay, book early and reserve one of the three private onsen rooms, you won’t be disappointed.

Great service with friendly staff. There are some activities provided, e.g. learn something about the green tea, free try of japanese wine+tea, morning stretch exercises. Food was great too. Definitely will come again.

On the way back from my trip, I stayed one night. This was my first time staying at the Hoshino resort. When I arrived at the front door, I was greeted with a welcoming smile, and the check-in process took place over a cup of tea with delightful Japanese tea cookies. My birthday was in a few days, and I was pleasantly surprised by a special dessert after dinner. Every inch of the hotel was cleaned, and the entire staff I encountered was kind and welcoming. I will certainly return to Hoshino Resort.

My family and I were very satisfied. My mother and grandmother also enjoyed staying here. This was my first visit to Roman and I will gladly choose this Roman again the next time. Also, it makes me look for other Hoshino resorts.

I had never been on Hoshino Group before, but I can assure you that this wont be the last. I didnt want to try Rupia Tomar, but it wasnt a possibility. Instead, I chose Kai Shu since I adore green tea. Everything here was better than I had anticipated. There is a perfect weather, a quiet area, a well run hotel, and personnel are highly skilled and attentive. Even if it was for foreigners, my room, which had tatami-style, a lovely view, was roomy and spotless, and it came with a very nice view. You cannot go wrong if you reserve supper, a really fine Japanese cuisine. Prior to that is a must. Tea brewing is delectable. We would like to express our gratitude to Sawayama san who arranged for our table, provided us with complimentary sake, and sent us a lovely picture to end our night at this hotel wonderfully.
