This ryokanhotel is terrific because it has as many rooms as a hotel but retains the atmosphere of traditional Roman. Impeccably tidy, the limited staff goes out of their way to meet all your requests. The rooms are spacious and wellequipped, and they even provide you with tote socks, a towel, and a bag for the hot spring bath. They typically offer you a free drink coupon when you get there, which is a nice touch. There are private hot springs for rent for approximately 3300 yen for 45 minutes, which I believe is loosely enforced, I believe especially if no one is after you. I had one included in my package and they were quite nice but very tiny, maybe 3 people could squeeze in, but it was comfortable for 2 people. The location is a little out of the way, a 10-minute walk from the famed stairs, so it isnt far. However, the sidewalks are small and slanted, so you need to pack light, otherwise youll lose your luggage. I bought a box of 12 afterward and polished them off in the room. Every flavor is delicate, almost screaming for salt. I believe the chefs intention was to slow down and enjoy each bite because they might never get another. It looks a bit run-down on the outside, but it is clean and has beautiful origami and cultural art ornaments. The staff was so attentive and friendly. Food and bath exceeded my expectations. Well-maintained bath and lovely outdoor bath. Recommended for large groups and families since you don't have to worry about making noise.

For Romans, hibikino was among the best weve ever remained with, combining a stunningly beautiful interior, spotless, comfortable rooms, excellent hot spring baths, and warm, courteous service one learns to expect from Japanese Romans. This, however, is somewhat obstructed by it's distance from the idaho onset town center and the various attractions in the vicinity. Youll likely find yourself taking the bus to get anywhere, which is limiting when buses are sparse and do not run late. From out of town, it isn't too difficult to get to the Roman. One can take the or highway bus from shizuku and stop at the Idaho onset bus stop, then locate the hotel after a 5 minute walk downhill. The lobby area and the walkway to the dining rooms were some of the prettiest I have seen. The traditional Japanese rooms were fairly standard, were clean, spacious, and comfortable, but they were small and only fit one or at least two people at a time. It was delicious, with an interesting original dish where one oilfries colorful looking items on sticks that turned out to be delicious. Although most of us didnt speak English, the waitress who served us food was extremely courteous and did her best to converse with us. The dinner in the hall area was lovely and very small,
