I would stay here again. We could get the staff at the Hero Tourist Information Counter to call the Roman to pick us up from the Hero Station to the Roman. The room was very clean and big for a party of 4 people. Beginning was small, but provided all the necessary amenities. This Roman could take up to 50 guests at a time. When we were there, there was only another group of 4 visitors so we felt like we had the entire Roman to ourselves. Dinner and breakfast were delicious, but we didn't really like the preserved fish.

My wife and I were there in early April. We reserved a traditional Japanese style room with no food. The room was large and clean. It also had a basic bathroom toilet and sink. We chose not to eat at the lodge and ate out. We used the lodge's onsenbath facility. There were both indoor and outdoor pools. The facility was small but there were only two others who came in and left shortly after while I was there. So, being small wasn't an issue, but soap and showerstools were scattered around. The futons were already made for us when we got there. They were clean and comfortable, and we had a good night's sleep. Overall, it was a basic but nice Japanese Roman experience but not a lot of price $170 without meals. I can tell it was a nice roman at one point, but it looked like it needed an upgrade the carpet in the hallway was dirty, the wooden trim in the room and other common area furniture was faded and had stains. The owner gentleman came to the railway station to pick us up and took us there the next morning. Although we couldn't communicate well, he tried to talk to us small and was very kind. We appreciated the kindness. On a side note, someone recommended that we purchase the wooden onsenpass, which you could use to enter a number of onset facilities in the town

In autumn, the public bathonsen has an open air zone for relaxing among the cold air while sipping hot water. Although this site is a little overcrowded with locals and tourists, we had a pleasant stay there. The staff also provides useful information about public foot spas and local cuisine restaurants in this charming town.

This hotel has a very cozy atmosphere, a large space that feels very comfortable and you can walk around the tiny town without any hassle. And close to restaurants and a train station. Also you can ask for traditional old-style Japanese breakfast or dinner. Very friendly owner and staff.

The owner of this place, Miyukisan, made us feel welcome and gave us a warm greeting when we arrived at the railway station. She gave us some tips on interesting activities in Japan and spoke good English. We have a comfortable room and a futon. The beginning of the outdoor space is fantastic. Anyone who wants to experience the genuine Japanese hospitality must know that the isumizo is a family-run roman.
