We adored this ryokan and wished we had stayed longer! The hosts were incredibly friendly, the place was spotless, and the rooms were inviting. I particularly remember the mattresses and comforters, which were really lovely and cozy, as well as the refreshing hot tea that was waiting for us when we arrived.

This is the spot to be if youre looking for an authentic, authentic japanese experience! It was fantastic - the staff was attentive and extremely helpful, going above and beyond any customer service i had experienced in other accommodations elsewhere. The food selection was varied, and they accommodated vegetarians upon request, preserving any of the authentic Japanese cuisine. Although my mother had to layer a few blankets with two duvets before she was comfortable enough, she eventually slept soundly!). With communal sinks and open areas, it has resembling ambiance that feels very homey. Unfortunately, there isnt presently an alternative to the communal showers or bath. Even the most culturally inclined travelers may find it advisable to take fewer shower sharing than you do. You will need to go without washing unless you dont feel at ease sharing your shower with other strangers. Apart from this, the location was ideal, excellent personnel, as well as the ryokan itself. My mother and ive had this jap to end our wonderful twoweek vacation in japonie. Thank you, muhaya rook!.

The building is old but wellmaintained. Its a straight 20minute walk from nagano station and is really centrally located to many sightseeing spots and tourist attractions. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. There was genuinely tastier feel to it. They were extremely nonjapanese guest friendly, including tattoos at their hot spring bath. Although the bath wasnt large, it could fit four adult men in at once, if you were comfortable being close by. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!.

A lovely familyrun traditional ryokan is situated in a prime area. We enjoyed the location near the temple and the many wonderful shops, which was close to the traditional breakfast. Our group included savory traditional meals, and two vegetarians were kind enough to adapt the classic breakfast accordingly.

If you want to experience an authentic japanese ryokan, this is the place to stay. Its a historic wooden house that is close to irms large Buddhist temple. The service is excellent, and the shared bathhouse is incredibly convenient for ending tainted days. Although there wasnt utensils in our room, there was one available just outside, so using it was never hampered. We also tried the kaiseki dinner, which was delicious and worth trying.

Id love to stay here for two days. Very comfortable in a traditional house and room. We once booked breakfast like kaiseki which is very delicious rice, soup and many small dishes, 1,650 yen per person including tax. All staff are friendly. Our room has secluded bath but also uses public baths. Well managed and clean, operating from 7 am to 9 am in the morning/16 pm at night. The location is ideal for those planning to visit zenkoji (10 minutes walk away. It snows all day during the day, so enjoy the traditional scenery outside.

The location is less than a block from zenkoji. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are nice rooms with nice touches. But the baths are tinier, there is only room for 3 people with their legs crossed. Breakfast, rooms, tea, and the sweet family that runs this place are all great.

We had the best time here. Right on the main street by the temple. So quiet and charming. 10 minutes by bus to the city. Lovely owners. Gorgeous onsen with facilities. Cant wait to stay again. Such a great place.

There is no better place in nagano! On the street leading to the zenkoji temple, lined with soba, gelato and gift shops. The staff are all very kind. We didnt have dinner there, but that part of town closes early, so while we found a delicious alternative i would eat there on my return trip. Breakfast was delicious and very traditional. So glad we stayed here! Only other tip if you are driving, search matsuya ryokan parking.

This place has an amazing location, close to the zenkoji temple. You can visit this place at night, for morning prayers, and once the street lights up during the day. The whole ryokan experience was fantastic, especially for kaiseki.

The rooms are large and wellkept. Excellent location. Despite the language gaps, the proprietors were incredibly helpful. I was very moved that my grandpa actually drove me in my car to show me where to park and how to get back to the hotel. When we were returning to nagano station, they even called a taxi for us. It is in arguably the best location and is conveniently located near some of Naganost attractions, offering breathtaking views. We were fortunate to witness Naganyo during both normal and winter as the overnight snowfalls left us with both winter and normal.

Our best vacation in japan. My wife, daughter, and i spent two nights in a wonderful fourfruit room with sanitizer. The owners and staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast and dinner were both delicious and of varying quality.

The owners at the entrance were very polite and met us at our entrance. Their son or manager was able to speak english. The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended.

In terms of location, you really cant beat jizokan mukya ryokan. Its in the heart of the old town with lots of great restaurants, temples, museums, bars, and more. All within walking distance. The room and facilities (onsen) were clean, comfortable, well designed. My partner and i were able to check into our room early, store our luggage while we went exploring the next day, even helped get my passport back to me after leaving it in hakuba. I will definitely stay here again.

A wonderful location tucked away in the heart of the zenkoji temple area. Experience a traditional stay in an old ryokan that is run in san komoji manner. The staff always makes you feel welcome, they do their best to understand english and are very helpful and attentive to your needs. They also warm your room before you return home. We felt at home and already miss this yokon and nagano!.

We stayed there in early October during the offseason. Great location, great hospitality. Wonderful breakfast in the japanese style with a great presentation. The bath was always very hot, not enough cold running water to mix with the direct 80 c flowing onsen water.

This traditional ryokan, which is next to the zenkoji temple, is all decorated in a japanese manner, featuring tatami mat floors and futon beds. The staff was exceptionally friendly and provided excellent hospitality throughout our onenight stay. We reserved the breakfast and kaiseki dinner for our 1night visit. Everything about the meal was delicious, especially for dinner, and it was exquisitely presented.
