I would say the hotel is simply normal. It's clean, and there is free Wi-Fi everywhere. The food wasn't amazing. One of the chairlifts at Hoppo Ski Resort is only a 10-minute walk from the hotel. But, if you need to visit other ski fields like Gory or Intake, you must walk 10 minutes to catch the shuttle buses at the big bus terminal. All shuttle buses were free a few years ago. But just 1 or 2 are free now. I had stayed at the Hotel Hakona two times a few years ago and the food was better there.

Martin Roman is a family-run business that is very welcoming. It is sort of a hybrid of a Western hotel and Japanese hotel, even though it is referred to as Roman, and it actually has both Japanese-style tatami rooms and western-style rooms with mattresses. The nakiyama lift is only a 5-minute walk from Martin roman, and the gondola is a 10-minute walk away in the winter when it is great for skiing. There are many ski rental shops and bars in the vicinity. Relax with the onset of ski touring! This location is ideal for mountain trekking during the summer when the proprietors family has been managing Martin Roman for more than 50 years and is aware of the Hakunomi region.

This is my first visit to hakuna, a fantastic little village that is renowned for its skiing. I booked the hotel through a hong kong travel agency specialized in skiing trips. The hotel with two wings and five levels is essentially run by one family, and you can see how the family members work hard day and night to manage around 80 rooms. They serve with integrity and confidence. I love Japanese cuisine, particularly Japanese. The hotel is not opulent, like most hotels in hakuna village, but I was most surprised by the chef, who is dedicated to serving the finest food with his cooking skills and experience. The tuna sashimi, for example, was not as quality as toro, the fattest and luxurious portion of tuna fish, but the chef added a bit of seasoned egg white over the tuna to preserve the freshness of the flesh and contribute to the oily taste of toro. Desserts are another outstanding dish, mostly due to the chef's expertise and professionalism. The tatami mattress room is small, and there is nothing to be seen in its peak. Try the cup noodles, snacks, and icecream that can be purchased at the tuck shop and kiosk in the hotel if you still have some room for more food.
