This place offers excellent value for the money. You will spend the night on futons and hear noise from other rooms because this is a ryokan. If you are unable to manage this, consider staying in rented lodging. However, if you want retuning to traditional japan and dont have oodles of cash to spend, im heartily suggest this location. The staff is kind and accommodating, they even assisted us in setting up an amazing kimono fitting for my son in the charming rooms. There are only modest, tiny houses throughout the area, making it quite atmospheric.

The location is close to the train station, bus and subway. The room is small and has tatami and futons. They have a great atmosphere. This place is very nice. I dont want this place to be overrun by snobby tourists complaining about the lack of luxury for 45 dollars or so. You will have to share the bathroom and you may forget about city views out the window and the smell of lavender in your room. But this hotel will help you experience japan and genuine local hospitality much better than 100$ hotels and ryokans, if you are polite and openminded and thats what you want, you will be looking for. Thinking about my stay there makes me feel warm inside and it was my best guest house or hostel stay, even though i came from ks house which is also great and highly rated as the best hostel in the world. Its just big and western, but this is genuinely chinese gem that speaks fair english.

This place is a great place to stay while visiting kyoto! Kyoto station is only ten minutes walk away, with convenient transit and many nearby bus stops. The staff was very accommodating, and they allowed us to store our luggage with them for the day after we checked out. Be aware that this is hostelstyle accommodation, there are some shared spaces between guests. There is also stifling extra charge of 100 yen for towels or other amenities (yukata, etc.). The breakfast is excellent! Youll be sleeping on futons in the traditional rooms. If you go under this, you will have an amazing experience. And of course, the price is right. I would recommend this hotel to anyone trying to travel cheaply.

The hotel is within walking distance from kyoto station. The reception is a minutes walk from the room but with clear directions. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice and clean, but the stairs up to the rooms are quite steep and narrow. Not suitable for large luggage, infants or elders. Wifi in the bedroom is so weak. Breakfast cant be booked on site.

Ryokan is a really pleasant, peaceful, and serene place. The staff at their office around the corner were friendly. It truly gave me an authentic japanese experience.

Traditional machiya inn with lovely courtyard garden. Near many major historical sites and the train station. A cheap and convenient public bathhouse is located down the block, and nearby restaurants clearly cater to the locals who serve quality food. Prices are very affordable, staff are extremely kind and helpful even though i didnt know any japanese. The room can feel a bit small if you are crowded, but otherwise strongly recommended.

This traditional japanese house is what we wanted for a few nights in kyoto, just ten minutes walk from the central station. The bathroom was tinier than expected, but the room was tidy and cozy. Staff was helpful. You could get at least free towels and lukewarm breakfast for $200 per day. Overall, it was an excellent experience, however, i think they should offer fewer for the price.

We chose a traditional room with tatamis and futon, and we werent disappointed! The room was spacious, the futone was really comfortable. The common areas were clean and spacious too.The only negative point is the stairs, they can be difficult to climb if you have large luggage.
