Our stay at Nukumorino-yado Komanoyu was truly unforgettable. The Ryokan is very clean and well maintained, even if some parts feel a little nostalgic and show their age in a charming way. The kaiseki dinner and the breakfast were absolutely incredible — honestly among the best we have ever experienced. Every dish felt carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The shuttle service was very convenient, and the private onsen were an absolute dream. Relaxing there surrounded by nature was one of the highlights of our trip. What made the experience even more special was the nighttime excursion to admire the stars. It was peaceful, magical, and simply fascinating. A wonderful traditional experience that we would happily recommend to anyone visiting Japan.

The hotel is excellent especially the hotel staff. Although we were late, the shuttle bus was still searching for us in the train station. He also led the tour for star watching at night and it was amazing. The hotel is really traditional and the meal was so good. We loved the outdoor and private onsen. Environment was exceptional peaceful in the forest.

Set in the countryside it was beautifully quiet. The room was spacious, the private hot bath delightful and the staff friendly. The morning views of the mountain were breathtaking. However, the highlight was the multi -course dinner. Perfectly cooked and presented it was a delight. A fantastic place to stay after a day walking in the valley

Such a peaceful experience. Clean and spacious rooms. Amazing baths especially the outdoor bath. Food is plentiful with a wide variety of flavours and the staff were very polite. The building is a little tired but the service makes up for it.

We were warmly welcomed, our room was spotless, and wonderfully traditional. Our kaiseki dinner was delicious and the private yuzu infused onsen was other worldly. Thank you for having us!

Shuttle van met us at the bus stop. Peaceful atmosphere, great staff. Clean facilities, very comfortable that met our needs. Traditional tatami room so not for those who are accustomed to chairs or sofas. Meals were exceptional. Glad we booked our stay.

Wonderful stay made possible by amazing staff. Warm, kind and true Japanese hospitality. Food was fantastic and guests hv 1hr use of private onsen each day of stay. Public onsen has an outdoor pool that was breathtaking at night. Stargazing was a memorable experience (tho info shared were mostly in Japanese). Our most memorable stay and we are glad we stayed for more than one night!

A really lovely ryokan with kind and helpful staff. Although the common areas are a little tired, the room was really lovely, clean and comfortable. The kaiseki dinner & traditional breakfast were wonderful- everything was delicious! Thanks for a memorable stay

If I could give a 6 stars for staff I would, everyone was so friendly and the service was incredible. The only thing that let the property down was the old carpets but that was very minor

This hotel give me a homely feeling. The staff are friendly and attentive. They provide pick up from the train station and daily shuttle to town. The star gazing tour was a bonus!

This hotel has its own onsen and we loved it. We all were given traditional Japanese robes to wear throughout the hotel (in the dining room as well) and that was really nice. The staff were amazing and patient.

Our three night stay was a highlight of our three week Japan visit. The staff was so kind and so friendly. Especially Iyaka and Ling. Our room was large and the western beds were comfortable. The shuttle bus was very convenient running from the Kiso train station to the property. The meals were delicious. This was our first stay at a ryokan. The food was served with an explanation and instructions on how to handle the hot pots and mini table grill. We enjoyed wearing our cotton yukatas and slippers to the meals. It really changes the dining experience and brings it to another level. The onsens were very clean and enjoyable. We used both the indoor onsen which we reserved for private use and the outdoor onsen. Sitting under the stars, soaking in the rock lined onsen after a day walking the Nakasendo Trail is an experience I'll never forget!
