My wife and I traveled to Zakone to relax a little with one night at Gyokutei Roman after three nights in Tokyo. The event left us breathless and relaxed. With only four rooms in the facility it was very quiet, quiet, and relaxing. We received a wonderful welcome upon arrival and were very happy that we arrived well before dinner so we had a good chance to enjoy the facilities. After we were checked in, our host sat us down in our private dining area in our rooms and offered tea and a snack while explaining everything about the facility and service. After the welcome, we immediately enjoyed the hot sprinkled showers both private and public. The view from the public bath was fantastic and it was lovely to relax and clean up before supper. Dinner was served at 630 a great experience. We were slowly served a traditional kiseki dinner consisting of many small courses of seasonal local food delivered on beautiful dinnerware and carefully described by our host. The owner even stopped by after dinner to thank us for staying with them and make sure everything was fine. We had a wonderful night's sleep on the futons in our bedroom, and woke up to a large traditional japanese breakfast again delivered with excellent service. After breakfast, we enjoyed some delicious coffee while sitting on our private porch and looking out onto the lovely inner gardens and koi ponds.

One of the best vacation experiences I've ever had was staying at Gyokutei. Staying in a Roman is the finest way to experience Japanese hospitality. And gyokutei is one of the best Romans in Japan. You will adore seeing the scenery in front of the inn for the first time. You can't stop looking at the garden on the property if you enjoy nature and gardens. Our stay was decided by dinner served in the room. We frequented Japanese restaurants both inside and outside, but nothing like the kiseki meal that we got treated. They provide both public-onset and hot spring water 100 from a source in your room.

We had been traveling for over a week and wanted a taste of the authentic Japanese lifestyle so decided to jump on the boat and try GYOKUTEI. We were not disappointed. We weren't fully aware of this but the villa has a personal lady who serves food and is always available to assist in any way she can. A chef serves excellent and unusual breakfast and evening dinner. The setting is very charming and comfortable with a secret garden and water feature and lovely calm which is just what we wanted after so much travel! The staff were attentive and without being over-the-top, for perfect balance, with special thanks to anime who looked after us like royalty. The accommodation was traditional Japanese, so this is exactly what we wanted to experience. If you want a taste of period Japanese, I would highly recommend gyokutei, and I would also like to thank the staff for making the stay so memorable.
