A few months ago, we stayed in this Roman, and this was our first time staying in a Roman. We had a room with a beautiful view of the valley and the first impression in our room was relaxing and wonderful. Despite this, the room and the Roman itself appeared a little worn out and tired. You also have to make your beds, which, as we later learned, is uncommon for Japanese Romans. I had also a bad experience with one of the servers during our first dinner at the hotel, when we attempted politely ask how we would eat one of the dishes. He harshly told us to just look at the menu we had, but we still had questions, and we left. The ones at this Roman are fantastic in general! If the other facilities are as enjoyable as it were, a small renovation and more courteous service would ensure that the other amenities are equally enjoyable.

A very nice traditional roman. But as this was our first time seeing a Roman, we couldn't truly compare it to any other. From hakoneyumoto station, we traveled one stop on the beautiful touan railway to Tonosawa and then down the hill to the main road. As I anticipate, the roman staff was timid, friendly, and English-speaking. In the lobby, there was a gift shop, and our room was on the second floor. We reserved a room with a private entrance that overlooked the river. The room was extremely traditional, and we made our bed every night. For extra comfort, I suggest using 23 bed mats. The nearby river was quite noisy at night and took a bit to get used to. We fully committed to wearing yukatas during our time in the Roman, despite what it initially felt a little strange during breakfast and dinner. Dinner was a delicious shabu taste experience where you prepared vegetables and pork in a pot on the table. There were numerous tasting dishes and plates to experience full Japanese cuisine, but this was not ideal if you do not like fish. Also, I would advise keeping an eye on the pot to avoid burning. Overall, this is a lovely place.

Highly, highly recommend. In what appears to be a little village, this traditional roman will provide you with a peaceful and relaxing experience. A wonderful stop if you've only been in one of the larger cities. Our room was quiet, with only the sounds of the river gently bubbling in the background. On the first day, the experience was great, we booked a private 30 minutes for just the two of us so we could enjoy privately. This was without any additional cost. The public is also accessible, but for those who are a bit shy, the private one is perfect. The food was fantastic and a truly unique experience. This might not be to your liking if you are seeking luxury or a picky eater. The place is beautiful and clean, but it is not like a resort or a western style hotel, so be ready.

The room is big and has a seating area for the futon beds. You can also see that this place is very clean and welcoming. The meal is very tasteful, with great flavor. It's great if you like fish and meat and like Japanese cuisine.

The only thing that separates us here was that the room was okay and had an open hot bath and it had a pleasant experience for us. They provide phones and safes. The staff also helped me when I needed a bed so that we can relax.
