We reserved this hotel for two nights based on prior evaluations. However, in contrast to those who have said, we barely saw the proprietors and did not enjoy any of the friendliness. Apart from the included breakfast, which consisted of plain and simple fruit, yoghurt, bread, ham, cheese, and preserves, we were undoubtedly not given any additional meal options. Almost all dinner options were reserved for the number of diners, with no replenishment or anyone checking back to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Because there is no indication of the home and we were unable to locate anyone, we werent sure if we were at the right spot when we arrived. When we did, the husband led us to our room, pool spot, and a lounge that we could use. This is an extremely ancient home in a traditional style and decor. Our room in the main house was comfortable enough but rather ordinary and oldfashioned. We requested a shower, but the ceiling was so low that we couldnt stand in it completely. Although the grounds are lovely, there is a lot of traffic noise when sitting by the pool due to the houses proximity to the major road. My greatest gripe is that there is no location to obtain any refreshments. We only had a flask of tap water in our room. There were no tea or coffee makers, and there was no

This was a peaceful place to stay. We were in one of the modern apartments in the garden. It included a bedroom, shower room, and large lounge area with dining table, small fridge, and kettle.. So we could drink coffee. Outside, nothing is marked, except a tiny sign with a tree logo. So we were worried we would come to the wrong place, but were greeted warmly. The bed was very comfortable, the pool was amazing, and the grounds were attractive and well kept. The church bells are audible from the room, as is the main road through the village. However, neither of that was a problem for us. Breakfast is served at a table in the poorhouse. We found it abundant with yoghurt, fruit, croissants, eggs, jam, bread, cheese, ham, fruit juice tea and coffee. Inbritiande, the evening dining options are very limited. But we did try a restaurant called Stop, which offered a tasty menu at a reasonable price. Not a tourist destination, but good food if you're prepared to follow their recommendations.. And large portions. Other reviews have eaten at the lodging, but we didn't try it.

I wouldn't hesitate to return if I had the chance. I couldn't help marveling at the gardens as we entered our room when Anamarie greeted us. The plants had globe artichokes, and the scenery of the flowers was stunning. The breakfasts were all delicious, especially the home-made yogurt. The hospitality of the hosts was outstanding, and I adored the books and artwork in the cottages and in the manor house. We accepted the offer to have supper cooked for us on the estate one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. We encountered a lovely couple who is also vacationing there. The visit that Ana marie made for us, along with her friend Miguel, was fantastic, as was the bottle of wine and snacks distributed to our hosts on the lawn the night we didn't feel like eating supper.

Fantastic boutique hotel. Peaceful, lovely, and intimate with the care for detail, as in the best hotels I've stayed in. A couple of specifics The typically held breakfast at the pool is served at the time you discuss the previous night's date with Anna. While it was prepared and served just for the two of us, our room was cleaned. Brunch included home-made yogurt, raspberries, and quiche preserves made from their own fruit, among others. A quick and easy drive to the piano for porto tastings. Amazing couples' retreat!.

The property and staff were lovely, very attentive. Great hospitality and superb breakfast. The rooms were charming, clean and interesting but somewhat lacking in some basics like full sized beds, shampoo, lotions etc. Overall, a terrific place to stay and close to the top Douro wine region.

It was a special experience staying in such a historic home. The whole place is beautifully decorated and the hosts were helpful with their tips. However, we would have appreciated having a kettle and tea and coffee facilities either in our room or in the sitting room that we were allocated. Whilst we really appreciated the beautiful breakfast that was offered in the morning, the whole place felt quite formal.
