There is no check in and I had to call multiple times for someone to give me the access code to enter the property. The apartment was very nice but the AC did not work during the heat wave when I was there. The bedroom was on the second level and was to hot to sleep there. We messaged the number given but no reply. We had to sleep on the coach with the windows open. The fan and TV also were not working.

I wanted to give this place a higher rating because the host was nice and fairly responsive via WhatsApp. Unfortunately there were a few things that kinda ruined it for me, most of which I raise via WhatsApp with the host but were not fixed. First the good: the location is excellent. Easy walk (though uphill) to Sao Bento subway and train station which is the main hub for trips out of Porto. Easy check in which doesn’t require you to meet up with a person. When I arrived the AC wasn’t working and the host already had called maintenance to fix it before I got to the room. Unfortunately, for the first night (a hot one) the AC would not stay on for more than 2 hours at a time forcing me to get up to turn it back on multiple times during the night (since my room had the bed up in a loft with treacherous stairs it was a bit dicey). When I first opened the bathroom door I was greeted by the stench of sewage and sadly this remained throughout my stay (even after raising with the host) which was rather gross. Also I ran out of hot water in the shower after less than 5 minutes which to me is not acceptable considering this was not a hostel. I basically took navy showers for 4 nights. Lastly, they only give you one tiny roll of toilet paper per stay and when your stay is 4 nights that is not sufficient even for one person. All that being said I would not choose to stay here again.

We communicated with Joao by Whatsapp. He was always available and met us at the apartment within minutes of arrival. The apartment is a short walk from the Bento train station which is 2 or 4 min by train (not subway) from the Companha train station - the trip is free and included in your fare if you took the train from Lisbon. The apartment was spacious and had plenty of room for two people. The only negative was the noise from R. de Mouzinho da Silveira, which is a main street for tourist in Porto, but double panels muted the noise but then there was no view outside. Central location enables us to walk to all tourist sites, shopping, and restaurants and even to the other side of the river. Brilliant town to visit - not so crowded in May.

We selected this location for the AC, the AC never worked. The check in process was too complicated requiring on site assistance to enter the building.

The apartment itself was great. Well laid out, had everything we needed. Communication with the host seemed to be prompt and even stated that our satisfaction was their priority. Very quickly into the stay we discovered that the downstairs TV was not working and the AC was not working. The host stated they would get a technician in for the AC and they would switch out the TV. I never received a status update that I didn't have to ask for. The AC technician never came. We spent 3 evenings and nights in this apartment where the inside temperature was 32C, or 90 F. We got hardly any sleep for 3 nights. They did drop off a fan that helped slightly. The TV issue was never resolved. When we called our third party broker and they contacted the property manager, the property manager stated that no complaint had been registered, thus, they could not compensate us. I sent our broker the entire What's App conversation we had regarding these issues to prove we had reported them. To make matters worse - my warm shower water lasted for 60 seconds, then went cold. The provided blow dryer worked for 30 seconds, then shut off. When we returned from our days out, the apartment smelled like sewer. Porto is a beautiful city and the apartment is close to everything. But these were the 3 most miserable evenings and nights we have ever experienced.
