We were hesitant to take this property after reading mixed reviews online, but we went with our guts anyway. The property is a 30-minute drive from handy town and has no signs or boards of its existence. To protect the trees and nature, the property is beautifully constructed in the most eco-friendly way. This airy property has only 3 rooms and faces Lake Victoria. We stayed in the superior room, which is tastefully decorated and has a lovely bathroom with tub views of the pool and lake and an open shower that can turn interesting when it rains. They have two amazing staff that are always ready to meet your needs at any time of the day or night. We were so in love with the property that leaving it to go sightseeing was difficult. It was a home away from home for us. We read reviews of their wine collection not up to the mark, so we brought our own bottle at combo airport very reasonable. The cuisine is on the higher side and can be improved. Special thank you to spun push for making sure we have the most amazing stay possible.

The Hermitage by Edwards collection. March 27, 2022. The name sounded great, but it is actually a fantastic bed and breakfast. You choose the supper menu and then call the restaurant to deliver, so you get cold to warm food served on attractive dishes. Breakfast was the same. My eggs and bacon were cold, and the toast was cold. My partner's local breakfast was nice but also cold. For the money, it's a scam. The owner could easily install a chef to cook these things and increase the experience. I mean how difficult is it to put toast in a toaster and fry an egg on site? I'm sure the staff, who had a nice man called mute, could be trained to cook what's on the menu. The rooms and decor are wonderful, it's such a letdown when you get a cold dinner and breakfast. And the coffee, cheap filtered coffee. They could as well buy an espresso machine. WiFi, well, should I say lack thereof.. It's terrible. Come on, owner, install some decent routers, it's not rocket science. Overpriced, avoid at all costs, there must be better value high-end places in handy. They didn't even have ice for drinks.

After a long journey, we arrived at the hermitage. It was difficult to find because there seemed to be no signs on the road. We were shown to our room after check in and asked to select our dinner items from the menu, we assumed, so that the chef would have time to prepare. We sat down for supper and requested a bottle of wine, only to discover there was no wine or any type of alcohol available. The waiter claimed they were licensed! While we waited, we could hear the distinctive ping of the microwave as our food was heated. They were served hardly hot on the outside of the plate and cold in the middle. Our room was pleasant and the linens were lovely, but there was no option to prepare tea or coffee, no iron. There was only one working outlet. The bathroom was so dim, and only one light was working. The staff was pleasant, but we would never go back to the hermitage.

We spent seven nights here and used it as our base to explore the rest of Sri Lanka. It is a lovely house that has a view of Lake Victoria. The house is a lovely spot to unwind and rest because of the breeze. Everything you may require is included in the room, which is roomy and comfortable. Most requests are taken care of and the personnel is always accommodating. Delicious fruit platters and freshly squeezed juices are provided for the Sri Lankan and English breakfasts. Even if the meals are not gourmet if you don't choose the local cuisine, they are absolutely fine. However, the cuisine in Sri Lanka is excellent. The pool is spotless and a lovely spot to unwind. Wine is not licensed to do so. If you need a refrigerator and glasses, they provide one. It's optimally conceivable to travel from here to the tea plantations, the spice growing area, handy itself, and other areas with the luxury of returning to the same bed. Two lovely men and a chef go above and beyond to make you feel at home there. very highly advised.

We traveled in December 2018, while my wife was expecting her first child, and were drawn by the beautiful photos and idyllic scenery images revealing a quiet retreat. The spa for my wife was our main attraction, because she was looking forward to relaxing massages. The rooms are named after yoga poses, but there is no yoga center or teacher.

The Hotel is very nice, quiet and relaxing. The staff was wonderful. We would have preferred A/C but otherwise it was very comfortable.
