After conquering the flood across the valley, it was great to reach our first class destination. The house is in an incredible location and quality. From the moment we arrived, Gary and his wife made us feel at home, even drying out my damp clothing. The atmosphere in the room was first class. Food is delicious, no complaints, but we should have requested lamb cooking a bit longer. Background music while dining is so relaxing. Beautiful views from the front bedroom. Perhaps an update is due.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Clean, comfy, and beautiful hotel with a nice friendly atmosphere. Very friendly. But the food that sets it apart.

This time, we felt better in less than 24 hours because of that. After a longer journey through the south lakes, Gary was very welcoming and accommodating, while the welcoming tea and biscuits in the lounge were quite refreshing. The evening's dinner featured a deliciously good-timed ham hock terrine, and the melt-in-your-mouth beef ended up with a masterpiece of chocolate fondant. Gary and Donna have a mighty team, and they deserve to win.

The most wonderful hosts - Donna and Gary, the first-rate chef, and the very nice raconteur - are all of them. With over 20 years of experience in the hotel business, they are a wonderful team. The guests are unrivaled when they enter this opulent gem. Although Hazel Bank is unquestionably our favorite hotel in the lake district, we have stayed at several hotels in the area. The rooms are all very comfortable, tidy, and well-appointed. The location is fantastic. The atmosphere is casual and very welcoming.

I applaud all the previous comments about the wonderful hospitality of the gary and donna at this small, tranquil, and lovely hotel. We were almost the only non-repearing guests while we were there, which is quite amazing. Our downstairs room, Castle Crag, had a lovely and tidy design and a really comfy bed. We had two windows with a view of the fells, and we even noticed a red squirrel. The meal was delectable, followed by drinks and canapes in the lounge. Country house party atmosphere and lots of conversation that we thoroughly enjoyed.
