It's always difficult going into the unknown especially when considering all the potential ups or downsides. Always have a level of expectation that's keeps oneself honest. So honestly, we were just looking for a place to stay that was local for our requirements, where could eat or have a drink if we wanted an easy life. Happily upon arrival we were more than happy with the room, both location and size and layout were great for us. Maybe a slight bit of apprehension about being above the bar but that was our choice to stay and we knew that before hand. That said we had very little to be concerned of in actual fact. Noise levels were not intrusive, and to be honest we didn't ever hear anything. Super quiet and well insulated or just very quiet pub So defo not negatives there. There is a bit of noise from the road but that's to be expected and only really noticeable because of the super hot ambient temps over that current wknd so windows open for some breeze. Comfortable quiet clean room with a decent usable space and layout. Breakfast included and tailored to suit our needs with super reliable staff and quality food served quickly, efficienly and without a single issues whatsoever . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had zero stress at any part of the time there. Food and stay all better than expected. Would not hesitate to rebook Thanks for effort 👌

Really lovely owners and bar staff, younger girl waitering in the evening was a bit miserable which stood out a bit as all the other staff were so lovely. The owners really look after you and are so accommodating, genuinely kind, nice people as we’re the bar staff. The room was clean and modern and perfect for our family stay of four, with young children aged 7 & 9. I can’t believe this is only a three star hotel, as it went way above this. The breakfast was really good as well. This is a lovely bar/hotel in the heart of the Village, it’s got a lovely warm, homely, safe atmosphere, with lovely people who obviously live locally going there as well as holiday makers from all over the place. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be staying again. Great location to see local areas of interest and price wise was a bargain in comparison to other place, we really landed on our feet here. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a lovely room with a beautiful oriental bed and a balcony. The bed was more comfortable than ours at home! Staff were friendly and eager to see to our needs. Breakfast was very nice 😊

The owners were really hospitable, breakfast was delicious. Prices in the bar were reasonable. Room was clean and comfortable with fabulous shower over the bath. Only small niggle was a slight dog odour when we arrived. On-street parking outside is unlimited after 6pm until 8am. Pay and display car parks nearby. Regular bus service into Minehead. Plenty of bridleway paths within easy reach of the hotel. Great base for first section of the South West Coast Path.

Very peaceful and enjoyable stay.for one night stopover whilst walking the SW Coast Path. Quick, easy, friendly check-in. Nice, quiet, refurbished room with excellent shower and comfy bed. Plug in bathroom sink didn't work properly. Excellent, freshly cooked breakfast and nice evening dinner at a reasonable price.

We have stayed at the Castle Inn quite a few times now and have always found it to be excellent, The staff are always very friendly and welcoming and go the extra mile to make sure you have a good stay. It is right in the heart of the village of Porlock and an excellent base to explore Exmoor! We will definitely be back!

Lovely people and great hotel. Only downside was there were no change of towels or bed made. We were there 3 nights so would have been nice. Breakfast excellent. Loved it cos it was dog friendly too. Definitely recommend

Nice family operated Inn with friendly staff. Good food and nice freshly made breakfast. We spent two nights and for us it was a perfect stop on our way to Cornwall. Nearby there are very nice places to visit like Dunster, Valley of Rocks, Lynton-Lynmouth, ...
