The place itself was great! It is extremely close to the General Grant Tree, fallen monarch, panoramic view, big stump trail and Mark Twain’s stump! Within walking distance, there is a market and one restaurant. Overall, I would stay here again.

John Muir Lodge is in an unbeatable location in Kings Canyon NP, with trails accessible right outside your door. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The pillows were comfy, the shower was glorious, and the lounge is a cozy place to drink coffee in the morning. However! Please know going in that there is only one restaurant available for all lodge guests, campers, and day visitors, and they are super understaffed (not their fault). The restaurant staff we interacted with were incredibly kind, patient, and friendly despite people getting frustrated and behaving in really gross, rude, entitled ways. Please bring your patience and most considerate manners when you visit. It's a remote location with minimal amenities, not Disneyland. If you have the right expectations and are here to appreciate the beautiful park, you'll love it.

Loved our stay!! Everyone here is so nice!! Restaurant hostess was very kind same as lobby staff. We LOVED your lobby morning coffee thank u! We loved the location of this hotel right at the park. Will definitely stay there again if we ever return. The park is unbelievable beautiful!!! A must if you haven’t been

John Muir Inn was well maintained and situated with all the other Kings Canyon buildings including a restaurant, gift shop, and the Park Welcome center. Our stay was great. Vincent the evening staff at the counter made us fresh baked cookies each night. The inn has a “lodge” feel, and many of the guests met in the main open area downstairs in front of the fireplace to eat or play games in the evening. The Inn provided many family games that you could take and play. Overall was a great experience and recommend the stay.

This National Park Lodge is the nicest place I have stayed in the many parks I have visited. My only issue was the very soft bed in the ADA room we stayed in.

The Lodge was excellent. The only complaint was at the Grant Grove Village restaurant, which is the only close place to eat, and within walking distance, was very, very, under staffed. Expect long waits.

Parking for guests was limited but we had no issue parking in spots in the times we arrived. The attentiveness of the staff and amenities in the lodge were great. Coffee, games, tables and chairs, mini store, water filling station were great. The room was perfect for this time of year not needing air conditioning.

Scenery was gorgeous. The place could really use an update and a little better cleaning. We unfortunately had to leave a day early because snow was coming and could not get a refund because we booked on Expedia.
