I stayed in a well appointed room and was very happy with my quiet one night stay. Although the entire place is a non-smoking establishment, obviously someone had stayed there before me and broken the rules. I would have preferred the room had been steamcleaned and rid of the cigarette smoke that permeated the room.

Great affordable hotel, didn't use the shower but everything else was in good working order. Would have been nice if the fridge had a freezer section and the door handle was a bit sticky but other than that it was very clean and looked good inside. Great value.

I was very happy with Steinbeck Lodge. I appreciated the pull out desk area and convenient media center with assorted outlets. The coffee machine is good, but does not stop at one cup if you put any extra water in it. It might be nice to have a signs that says to limit the water input to only one cup, even if you plan to make 2 cups. This way the cup won’t overflow. I would stay there again and did appreciate the careful thought that went into this place.

Steinbeck Lodge is a classic American motel and a very practical choice if you are visiting Salinas, Monterey, or Big Sur by car. I stayed here during a solo road trip in June 2026 and found it to be excellent value for money, especially compared with the much more expensive hotels in Monterey, which is only about 17 miles away. The room had been recently renovated and was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with good air conditioning, a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, desk, and television. There was plenty of on-site parking, which made it easy for a road trip stop, and laundry facilities were also available. There is no on-site restaurant, but the motel is close to downtown Salinas, with plenty of food options nearby. This is not a luxury stay, but it delivers exactly what a good road trip motel should: clean rooms, convenient parking, useful facilities, and strong value. I would stay here again.

Very nice, spruced up motor lodge. Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Great for our group of 6 headed to the Steinbeck museum and house. Would stay here again.

Looks like a classic motel from the 70s, but the rooms seem recently renovated and everything worked well. Just a five-minute walk from the center of old Salina.

Very clean room. Friendly staff. Pictures on web site were accurate. Exactly as expected. Walking distance to restaurants. Priced appropriately for location. Oddly, no closet in room, just wall hooks.

Sparkling clean, with a microwave and a mini fridge available. Although there is noise from passing vehicles at night, it is still acceptable even without earbuds. The staff there are friendly, and the location is within a short, walkable distance of the old town of Salinas (which is a great place to explore).

We had a wonderful stay...the property is well maintained, centrally located, quiet and safe on-site parking. The rooms are reasonably priced, clean and comfortable...AC, TV, etc. The staff are great and very accommodating. We will definitely be staying there when we return to town. Highly recommend.

Everything was great! Staff was very polite and helpful. This place is a gem. Unassuming on there outside but a soon as you pull up in the parking lot you can tell this is going to be nice. And it does not miss any mark. Nice bed, beddding and bathroom. Very clean. The bathroom seemed brand new it was so clean. And pricing, just right for me. Thumbs up to this place. Thank you for a nice stay
