I stayed in Villa ostende over a long weekend in October 2011, to add to the positive reviews in Spanish. Vanessa and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The hotel is excellent value for money and I would strongly suggest it to anyone looking for a family-oriented destination for their stay in Panama.

I've stayed at this hotel three times, and this may be my final. I used to adore it, but it's clear now that some work is needed to make it worthy of the TripAdvisor awards that hang on the walls of the lobby. Rooms are cozy and clean, but they need care. They used to provide excellent shampoo, soap, and conditioner, but they now offer inferior quality products. Breakfast is fairly basic, with croissants and toast cold, and they don't provide a toaster, although the products are excellent. Although there were numerous sings stating that children were only permitted until that time, the swimming pool was packed of them after 6 am. The manager saw this and did nothing. The sauna was the only thing that was functional in the spa, and the rest of the spa was totally useless. Also, they used to have someone taking care of the spa, but now there is no one to help.

We had a wonderful time at the property, which was close to the action but not in the center. I didn't mind because I am more a pool person than a beach person, but it would have been nice to have been informed on the phone. In January 2013, I spent four nights with my spouse. There was no one at the front desk, so we had to wait for someone to come check us in for a good 15 minutes. Because we had reserved a hotel rather than an apartment, we were informed that we had booked a hotel room, and if we wanted it, it would cost us well over 200 pesos every day. The lovely grounds and pool, though smaller, are also well-kept. A further $5 fee for credit card payments. I wasn't concerned because I'm more like a pool person than a beach person, but it would have been nice to have been informed over the phone. There is a lot of dirt, especially in the area that includes pillar and Carlo. A lovely, well-kept beach area. I would suggest a gardenpool view room for those who clean everything all day long to prevent noise. My room was the worst, facing the main road between Carlo and Laguna at night, and the noise was loud even with the sliding doors kept slightly open. We do not really understand why the staff was unfriendly or helpful, although
