Merriment cottages are in the most beautiful setting and well situated for being a short walk into town, especially if you are light enough to use the canyon walk trail. We also found alistair to be a charming, helpful, and communicative host. We rented the Riverdeck cottage and it is as lovely as it appears in the picture. But we were a little disappointed with the reality, even though we had anticipated this to be the best Victorian lodging. Several things did not work or did not work well during our stay, including the wifi, which alistair described was bad for the Riverdeck cottage. The fact that the cottage was so cold even in april is what we would really warn future guests about. The slate floors, which appear lovely, were not warmed by the combustion stove or the air conditioning, so we could only imagine how cold it would be in the actual winter months. I also don't think the cottage has a fully equipped galley kitchen. The space size is reasonable, but a more accurate description, in terms of the equipment and appliances provided, is that it is a kitchenette since it only has two burners and a microwave to cook with. To help visitors know exactly what to anticipate, a photo of this should be included on the website. According to other reviews, we may not have chosen the best lodging option merriment has to offer.

I was staying at Lychgate Apartment for three nights recently. The rooms amenities were great and the surroundings were delightful. The property backs onto the canyon walk beside the ovens river. A pleasant 10 minute walk into town or just a quiet spot to walk along at the end of the day. Thank you very much and looking forward to visiting bright and joy again in autumn the next time.

From Melbourne, it was such a wonderful, calm, and brief vacation. I wholeheartedly endorse romantic cottages for couples seeking a calm getaway that is far from the crowds and is more close to nature, the seasons, and the river. I particularly like the spa facilities.

All the things I needed here were complete, the house was very comfy and located near the river. And then they gave a peaceful atmosphere with a lovely garden. Subsequently, their place is close to the town. Then they gave us all the amenities we needed at this place, especially for Alistair and ellie.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights, the cottage was beautiful, the place was clean and welcoming. The balcony overlooking the garden and river was private with a bed. Our hosts Alistair and Elli were great.
