Had a lovely experience staying four nights in this hotel. This hotel definitely has the best views out of all the ones in the area - waking up to the lake and mountains every morning was breathtaking! The hotel is a few minutes walk to the train station which connects you to the rest of the area. Hallstatt is only a short boat ride away, or about an hour walk by the lake, which was also nice. The hosts were kind and very helpful. My only suggestion would be to have a kettle in the room, or even a shared one in a communal area - would be lovely to have a cup of tea on my balcony watching the view. Overall I had a great experience and would certainly stay again! Thank you

Saw some bad reviews about this property but I'e never had any of those bad experiences. Location is amazing. I even liked more than the main tourist area. Sadly I booked a view with mountain instead of the lake. It would be better if I had the lake view. I also had breakfast with extra fee, I loved it. I recommend this place

We loved our stay here. Great location in quiet village across from Hallstatt. Beautiful view from our small balcony. Rooms aren’t large, but very adequate. Wish TV was a smart tv we could put YouTube on or stream our own movies in English. 15 euros per check in and 12 euros parking per night we didn’t know about until getting our sign in instructions. But would stay here again!

I arrived on 17.30 pm. I lost my phone last 2 days before arrive at the hotel. It was so problems. I used my friend phone to called the hotel. I was appreciated by them. They were helping to come for checked in for me . Because they sent the code for check in to me by email. The room was so cleaned and comfortable. I can see the lake closer. Unfortunately it was raining all day. But still so beautiful. I hope i will come back again.

Super ! Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Zimmer mit Balkon und Seeblick,.... Fantastisch! Das Zimmer selbst ist sauber und wahrscheinlich erst kürzlich renoviert. Die Einrichtung ist zweckmäßig, aber ausreichend. Die Lage am See ist einfach unbeschreiblich schön und ruhig. Weder das Strandbad, noch die Eisenbahn haben uns gestört, abends ist es ruhig. Ein Bad im See oder einfach nur auf dem Seesteg die Idylle genießen oder auf dem Balkon die Fernsicht bis Hallstadt und in die Berge,... einfach grandios. Man sollte die Unterkunft nicht mit dem Komfort und dem Anspruch an ein 4/5 Sterne Hotel vergleichen. Aber allein die Lage und die Ruhe macht es um ein Vielfaches schöner. Schade dass wir nur eine Nacht gebucht haben ! Franz Josef ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber. Wir kommen sehr gerne noch einmal wieder.

Der Hallstätter See spielt natürlich alle Noten... dazu kommt das Hotel, ruhig und eingebunden in der magischen Umgebung! Einfach toll! Gerne wieder!

I was late arriving but was left very clear check in instructions. My single room was perfect for me with a nice shower and sink, only needing to share the toilet with one other room so no problem. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. Possibly my only gripe was that breakfast was a little on the pricey side at €18 and there was a parking charge of €12 per day. Having said that I’ve rarely had breakfast on a more beautiful terrace right on the lake so I guess you are paying for that really. Contrary to some other reviews I found the man on the desk to be very helpful and nice. All in all a fantastic stay in a perfect location

Everything went smoothly. I got the code for self check-in via comms through Expedia. Seamless. The room was clean, it was walkable to the lake and to the restaurants and train station. Room was on the smaller side, but I have stayed in smaller rooms in other countries. The man at the front desk was friendly and stored our bags. He was gracious when I accidentally took the key with me to Hallstadt after checking out. I was able to return it to him in the afternoon when I returned to pick up the bags. The only snafu was the breakfast. We had 9 a.m. salt mine tix and thought we had to et but the lady at the restaurant told us that we had to catch the bus and there was no taci service in Obertraun. We thought we had to run, but realized we would not make the bus. I called a taxi company that is in the next village over and made arrangements to get picked up 45 minutes later. While I was calling the taxi, the woman at the Restaurant told my daughter she could not eat in a way that my daughter felt was a bit unpleasant. I was able to straighten it out and my daughter ate a light breakfast. The full breakfast is what I expected at a small pension. The woman was pleasant in the afternoon. Since I wasn‘t there I am not sure what had been said, but my mother was Austrian, so I think I may not have taken offense if I had been there. I would stay at Haus am See again.
