I am currently working in Rio de Janeiro for a business enterprise, and I will remain at the hotel for 34 days. We really do not have a say on where we can go because hotels are reserved through the rio company administrator. I had a good first impression when I got there late in the evening and was welcomed by a nice receptionist. Yet, her presentation was terrible, and I didn't realize this was the average of what was to come. What appears to be mid-to-twenties office cast offs in the lobby. Lifts appear to be about to break at any time, and I could be wrong, but there appears to be just one elevator servicing the entire hotel. The room is poorly decorated and filthy, and there has been no apparent renovation or effort to modernize since the space was built, presumably shortly after Brazil was first discovered. The layout is not user friendly. Since the work area is close to the door, the air conditioning has no effect because it is located at the other end of the room. The restroom was clean, but it was unfurnished and in need of renovation. When I arrived, I ordered a steak sandwich from room service. That arrived 45 minutes later and appeared to be road kill covered in cheese. What a hotel, that is. The restaurant offers tasty cuisine in a good amount of food, and the breakfast is good. The same-day laundry is the worst. Bad points, they said at the counter all good. No, very rarely works. Rooms are quite old, in desperate need of renovation, mold on the walls chunks of plaster missing everywhere the beds are unbearably hard elevators are ancient ac works but a very noisy problem with the card system doors often fail open sewer runs outside the front of the hotel single glazing, so traffic noise is an issue.
