I have stayed at this hotel twice, first while the legendary John Spooner was manager. This time a new manager, also very warm and forthcoming. The staff in general is very helpful. I love the ambiance and history of the hotel. If walls could talk! The location is great, obviously. Rooms very quiet and cool. Loved to sit down in Writers Bar after long days of sightseeing - very charming staff! Keep up the good work, I very much look forewards to be back.

Make sure and pay for the daily breakfast. The buffet has an extraordinary selection and the food is tasty. Every nationality will find food that caters to their taste buds, and it is very affordable. The property is beautiful and luxurious. The live floral arrangements are sumptuous. The rooms are quiet; sound from the hallways doesn't enter the room. The location is very central to The Forbidden Kingdom and Tiananmen Square: we walked to both. It is also steps away from the mass transit system. In addition, there are hundreds of stores very close, located in malls and stand-alone shops. A pedestrian mall is about a block away. It has even more idiosyncratic shops there. Close to eating options also. Quiet streets are outside so no city noise intrudes into the rooms. I can't imagine needing more than this hotel provided to us on our 4 day stay.

We arrived very early from an overnight flight and the reception staff were amazing - especially Jerry Qi - who managed to get our room ready by 10am. That started our break in Beijing in a wonderful way. A manager from Russia called (I think) Sivenia showed us the way to our room and gave us the history of the hotel. She was fantastic. Great service from a wonderful hotel. Because we were so busy doing tours from first thing in the morning until last thing at night, we didn’t actually manage to use any of the facilities of the hotel, but our room was very very spacious and spotlessly clean. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel - it was simply perfect. Also, the location of the hotel was perfect - just next to the subway (which was ridiculously low cost and easy to use). We have traveled the world - this hotel is up there! Stay at this hotel - you will love it!

Excellent option from a tourist’s perspective. The hotel is located right in the city center, next to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. The building is beautiful, the rooms are clean and spacious, and the breakfasts are very good. Special thanks to Ksenia at the reception, who kindly explained where it is most convenient to exchange money and also recommended places worth visiting besides Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

Gorgeous and traditional room. Extremely helpful staff, Especially Kseniaa who greeted us and gave us appreciated help in navigating Beijing sites. Excellent hotel, and with staff who will try their very best to make sure your needs are met. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, offering possibilities for every preference. The location of the hotel is also very convenient, with easy access to sights such as Tiananmen square and the Forbidden City. Further, the hotel was located in a short walking distance from good shopping areas and many restaurants. We will be happy to return to this hotel also in the future.
