I wouldn't stay here, but it was fine. It's close to the Midi subway station. The breakfast was good but it was tasteful. Although they have nonsmoking floors, they bizarrely denied it and wrote to me about how they would thoroughly air the room before my stay.

The smartly designed lodgings are renowned for being among the top hotels in the world, having a modest bathroom, a decent shower with stable temperature and pressure, pleasant beds, and freedom to move. The aircorn performs fine, and numerous additional amenities are offered, including slippers, toothbrushes, bath foam, body lotion, and a rare gem these days, the complimentary emery board. The double-glazed windows perfectly separate visitors from the constantly-porous noise from neighborhood workers and construction sites. The walls were a little thin, which is unfortunate because the family next door had a very young and vocal daughter, whose father frequently rumbled up his voice. When we arrived after rp, some rooms appeared to be unprepared. There may be no non-smoking rooms or perhaps just one non-smoking floor, so you just have to hope your room has not been smoked for a few days. It appeared like people were smoking like it was 1963. It seemed like an odd check-out, with smoking men pushing in front of me at the desk, similar to being in Russia or the Ukraine. The complimentary water in the room turned out to not be included, which caused some friction at checkout. Given the culinary delights in Beijing, this was a mistake. The location is within walking distance to shopping, a subway stop, and a wonderful museum. The front desk staff was polite and courteous, and the ladies in the gift shop were a pleasure to deal with. The hotel lobby is delightful. Our tour guide informed us that the gushing was controlled by the government and reflected in the general tardiness of the rooms. The rooms are nice and the cleaning is excellent, but the badly stained carpets and peeling paint on the bathroom door diminished the overall experience. The amenities were bizarre. We would have preferred less condoms in the bathroom and more soap. I would have liked more soap and less condoms in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was not geared to western tastes, with the exception of eggs that were thoroughly fried, fried, and fried. It was fine for those of us who were used to asian breakfast, but most Americans don't like vegetables or soup for breakfast.

Overall, this is a less than ideal business hotel. It's a four-star hotel in a great location for traveling around Beijing. However, the location didn't impress me. The receptionist staff wasn't professionally competent, they were chatting among themselves as customers were kept waiting, although perhaps it was wrong to anticipate Western-style service. The room I stayed in wasn't very impressive either.. I started out a little unhappy about the fact that the bathroom sink and desk weren't spotless cup stains, soap stains, etc. Then I noticed a visible large smudge under a clean white bedsheet. Maybe I'm sensitive, but it's not a pleasant experience to uncover such a smudge through the bedsheet when you're expecting a proper night's sleep. Additionally, the room seemed dismal. The floor carpet, walls, and lamp shades are stained. There is also a cable internet connection in the room and it operates properly. Breakfast is largely Chinese, but there are also some western goodies such as muffins and pastries.

We stopped here because Beijing is close to the subway stop and shopping center. We can see that the hotel is clean and spacious, and that is the only problem with the AC that doesn't work on the breakfast there. The only problem is that the staff speaks limited english which is very uncomfortable. But, the location is great! It is close to the subway station, store, and shopping mall.
