We were looking for a relaxing end to our three weeks of very active vacationing, and La Tica y La Gata provided just that. While we were only able to book the shared bathroom rooms on hotels.com, the staff were able to upgrade us to a private room for a very small additional charge. This is a beautiful oasis right off the beaten path from busy downtown Puerto Viejo, but although it’s only a 6 minute drive from the town proper, you feel like you’re nestled in the jungle.

It’s a nice little heaven where you can unwind all your stress. It’s like a mini jungle where we were staying in a nice little two bedroom house. It’s like living in a judge with all modern facilities. Listening to Birds chirping, monkeys howling from nearby forests was becoming my morning chores. It has a nice little swimming pool open 24/7. Loved it. Host was very friendly and helpful. She even entertained my daughter with a snake(not as scary as it sounds). Walking from the Main Street (Puerto Viejo) felt a bit tiresome but if you have a car, it’s a smooth ride. I will happily recommend this place.

Absolutely stunning grounds. The room was exactly as advertised beautiful with great amenities. The swimming pool was fabulous. And, the host so kind and caring very helpful, great communication.

I found a great spot to hang out in Puerto Viejo, and it's super close to all the action. The staff there was fantastic, always friendly and helpful, making the stay even better. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, which is always a huge plus in my book. Plus, the pool was the perfect place to chill out and unwind after a day of exploring.

This was our first time in Puerto Viejo, and we picked this place because the ratings were so awesome. And it's no surprise why! The hotel is super chill and eco-friendly, but still has all the stuff you need for a really comfortable stay. The staff, and even the owner, are just incredibly friendly and welcoming—none of that stuffy, fake-smile vibe you get at other places. The hotel is totally off the beaten path, which we loved. It's close enough to all the restaurants and shops (like our new favorite, Cafe Rico), but far enough away that it was quiet at night. We really appreciated being less than a mile from the noisy part of town so we could just relax. The saltwater pool and the board games in the reception area were a major plus, too. We've officially found our go-to spot in Puerto Viejo. Can't wait to come back and see you all again soon!

Beautiful and spacious. The kitchen allowed us to store and prepare food. Staff helpful with securing transportation to different sites. Nice pool area. Highly recommend.

Overall a lovely place to stay. The accommodation was lovely, clean and comfortable. The pool was perfect to relax by. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful also with recommendations of where to eat it town. The only slight negatives are there was no safe in the room and the long (about 1km) dirt road to get there, but even with a tiny 2wd car going very slow it was fine. It’s about a 20 minute walk into the main town. Overall I would definitely stay here again though
