Great room and common areas. Great location. The highlight of the hotel experience was any meal with Juan Carlos, the chef. Very few tables, and people from all over Quito come for his delicious, hand-crafted meals that he prepares where you may watch. What TLC! Excellent staff like Juan David, Christian, Francisco and Vincent.

The property and staff are quite wonderful. There does need to be some clarification on the Gold perks because what is written is not what is received and that in no way diminishes the greatness of the hotel but still needs to be clarified. You won’t regret staying at this hotel.

During our two weeks trip in Ecuador we stayed twice at Illa Experience hotel, at the beginning of the trip and at its end. We were both time greeted as friends, with a very knowledgeable staff who arranged a multitude of things for us: from restaurant reservations (and with a special mention for Nuema, the restaurant located in the hotel, that was ranked 48th in the 50 best ranking of the global South Americas restaurants) to help to shop for specific items, explanations about the local culture and more. We enjoyed every minute of our two stays.

Illa is a fantastic hotel. The service is top notch and the hotel is very cool. They arranged transfers for us to/from the airport as well as a hike up a local mountain. The only thing that disappointed us was that we couldn't stay longer. If you are going to Quito, this is the place to stay!

My stay at Illa Experience was phenomenal! We stayed here for two nights after a 5-day excursion in the Galapagos and needed some rest and relaxation - Illa delivered! This is the first hotel we've stayed at where they offer experiences. The first night, they taught us how to make traditional Ecuadorian ice cream which was delicious and my daughter loved it. The second day, we learned how to make and tasted Canelazo (a traditional holiday drink). This reminded me of wassail and was really incredible. On the third day, a sombrero maker taught us the history of Panama hats (which are actually from Ecuador) and how to make them. Such a painstakingly beautiful process. We ended up going to her tienda the next day and buying one. The rooms are huge and wonderfully appointed. I took a nice long bath in the enormous tub and the beds were super comfortable. The suite also had gorgeous colors and colonial details. The view of the Winged Virgin on the hilltop behind the hotel is unparalleled! Every afternoon, complimentary tea time and homemade goodies are provided. We looked forward to coming back to the hotel every afternoon and having this special treat. Daily complimentary breakfast at Nuema restaurant was delicious and huge! This easily could've costed $25 per person. Lastly, the Staff at Illa is second to none. They made us feel like family and were so welcoming to us. If we're ever in Quito again, we will absolutely stay here again! Cannot recommend enough!

An original place with local flair. We loved every minute of our stay. The traditional ice cream was really delicious, but meeting the neighbor that makes it by hand was priceless. It reminded me of the sherbets my Grand ma used to make. One of our best hotel stays this year. We have been to several 5 star properties and ILLA is at the top.

We are really happy we stayed at ILLA, the detailed attention to our needs and family style hospitality was really heartwarming. Franklin and German were really helpful and made us feel at home. We enjoyed walking around San Marcos and saying hello to the neighbors. The woodcarvers shop was a treat. It is such a peaceful area of the city. The house is beautifully restored and extremely comfortable with an exquisite attention to design. Hope to come back some day!

Where can I start. The hotel is nicely located in a residential area in the heart of the historic center. The San Marcos neighborhood is charming and full of life, yet quiet and peaceful. It is short walk to the main plaza but a world a way in calmness. The property is exquisite, the restoration of this old colonial mansion really is heartwarming. We had a room on the 3rd floor which according to staff represents modern Quito, the furnishing was quite unique and the views astonishing, you can spot the entire downtown area. We enjoyed the hot chocolate experience as we were introduced to straw hat weaving, Mrs. Olga is a gem, she could weave a fine sombrero as she kept a conversation with us. I love Ecuador and its traditions, I am grateful with ILLA for creating the bridge with the local community. One of our best hotel stays and perhaps our top experience in Ecuador!

IIIA is an excellent hotel to stay at. The property is great and has a good amount of amenities. They offer you fresh juice and fruit at your door in the morning. Breakfast is prepared every morning fresh and to our specification. This was great because I was expecting the typically continental breakfast buffet set up. The hotel did have one local experience where we were given a brief introduction to the Canelazo a typically Ecuadorian drink. The room was clean and water was refilled every night we stayed. The one hint I would have for folks is to ensure you are not staying near the front door when possible. We stayed in the room close to the entrance and it can get a bit noisy in the morning when folks are leaving.
