Rappel : La Marmotte de la Meije est un gîte dont la clientèle est presque totalement faite d’adeptes de la rando pédestre ou cycliste. Octogénaire peu habitué à l’environnement spartiate des refuges j’étais une erreur de casting parmi les autres clients. Et pourtant je garderai un excellent souvenir de ce séjour et le mérite en revient au couple de propriétaires dont l’accueil extrêmement sympathique et prévenant met tout le monde à l’aise et qui ne ménage pas ses efforts pour satisfaire les clients. Et la cuisine maison est abondante et savoureuse. Je recommande tout à fait aux adeptes des activités estivales citées plus haut.

It's Motel 6, so everything is clean with no bells or whistles. Small rooms, etc., which is adequate. The overwhelming smell of a skunk, I mean, you know what it was. I mean there should have been a non-smoking room and the hallway was so crowded that it was filthy. It's now okay to smoke, people. But smoking is not smoky, you know? I should be able to spend the night with my kids without having to wait for them all to be given the munchies in five minutes.

I stayed here for a few nights just before Christmas. Cheap, reasonably priced, and a chain motel. Not the most welcoming welcome. The front desk is behind double-glazed glass and the office is hidden away. I was introduced to a strict code of conduct for visitors by the first document. There are cameras all around, which doesn't bother me, but I suppose certain guests and non-guests must be spotted given the area. The accommodation itself was adequate. The bed is comfy and pleasant. It was a struggle for me to go to a communal locked room at reception to be buzzed in just to use a microwave and have a coffee. The windows were not completely blacked out, they had wooden shutters, and there was a balcony light outside my window, which was a drawback. Be aware that this hotel is on lax flight path, so you will see a fair amount of air traffic all day long. You will require earplugs and if you are a light sleeper. Good luck. It served my visit purposes, but I dont think Id stay here again because of all of these problems.
