We had a pleasant dinner there on our last night in France after a week on the Canal du Midi. There was a nice selection of food. The 14 people on our party service were efficient but a little slow with the drinks order. Everyone liked the food they ordered for the night as a whole.

We stayed here because it was closest to the boat base and were pleasantly surprised it was only for one night. The rooms are small and we booked a room for 3 me, my husband and our son and there was no way the three of us could fit in one. Luckily we were able to get a second room. The bathroom was clean and appeared to have recently undergone renovation, so the shower was good. Continental breakfast was included and was good. Fresh croissant and baguette with jam and good coffee.

Maison du cassoulet is conveniently located downtown and was a convenient overnight stop on our canal bike journey. When we arrived the door was locked and we had to wait a few minutes for someone to arrive at the hotelrestaurant across the street. We were given our room keys and assistance with securing our bikes in the basement. We were asked to come back a few hours later to officially check in. We interrupted the staffs dinner before the restaurant opened, but they were friendly. We decided to eat here as well, and after dinner we settled our room and restaurant bill, avoiding potential confusion the next morning. The rooms were basic but nicely furnished and clean. The bed was comfortable, and we all had a good night's sleep. We had to ask for the wifi code twice at the restaurant, but it worked fine. Except for the confusing check-out process and the delay in obtaining the wifi code, I have nothing to complain about and can confidently recommend this hotel.

I would highly recommend this place for our family trip to Carcasonne. It's a really cold day in a busy restaurant and very friendly staff made a table for us. The food arrived fast, the service was friendly, and the food was generous and delicious.
