Is this the worst hotel I've ever stayed at? No. Was it great? No. Also, no. Let me start with the positives. The home is beautifully landscaped. You feel like you're in a private oasis. The pool is nice, but during the peak summer hours, the chairs are scarce. Breakfast buffet was fine. Restaurant staff was enough. Let's move on to the negative. I can't believe this is a star hotel. Its expensive, and the rooms feel dated. The reception staff were the least friendly we've ever seen during our two-week tour of France. We requested in advance that a taxi be called to transport us into town one evening. The gentleman at the desk said no problem. When we returned to the lobby an hour later, a different woman was at the desk who said she had no record of our reservation and instead of offering to call a taxi, he argued with us and continued to insist there was no such reservation. We were assigned an unusual story room. The bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was down a narrow, steep flight of stairs. It was very uncomfortable to go bathe. We remained the window curtains closed during the day, but this didn't seem to be useful. We returned to our room on the final night to request a fan, which they did provide. This was by far the most wonderful hotel we stayed at during our honeymoon in the south of France possibly ever. The room was phenomenal and incredibly unique, refined opulence is the best way I can describe it. We were so kindly upgraded and had a bigger room with a few walkin closets and a lovely story terrace with a view of all of Aixenprovence. Everywhere you walk by during your stay at the hotel is tastefully filled to the brim with elegance you can enjoy looking around to all of the ornate relics. Madeleines are provided when checked and tea time in the afternoon, where you can read from the books they have scattered about or enjoy the atmosphere. The pool is great and offers a fantastic menu with great local produce. We had burritos and tomatoes and charcuterie all delicious and served with fresh roses, which are abundant all over the place. Just by the pool, you can enter the wellness area, where you can take advantage of the amenities of a spa, peaceful music, a jacuzzi, infected water, a sauna, and a cryotherapy chamber, which is basically a human-sized refrigerator, not sure it actually did anything, but it was great to cool off in. The room was very filthy, they didn't clean it, and then, the room's cleanliness was also terrible. Plus, they charged 100 dollars per night for bottled water.

It is not advised to stay at this hotel. The villa garlic is usually really stunning and could be so much better than it is. Although we have stayed at many nicer hotels in Paris, the south of France, and the countryside, I am relieved that it is rated as a top hotel in France. It's a suburban hotel, in the first place. It advertises itself as having gardens, but it doesn't. Our room, which had a balcony, had a small patch of grass in the garden. Don't expect countryside because it is in a very poorly built up area. The nearest point is a brief stroll into the central air. The cuisine is of poor quality. We were astonished that the lunch and dinner menu were exactly the same, with very few alternatives, no daily specials, and a taste that was quite average, particularly considering the price. The air conditioner hardly functions. The general staff was really nice and welltrained, but we had a big problem that we had to speak with the manager about. Despite requests, the boss never addressed himself the problem for more than 36 hours, and the reception staff was unpleasant and courteous.
