In the small towns of eastern germany things are still much different from those in the western world. For the region, this place is superior to average. They are attempting to be western. We looked at a number of places in Mittweida and found them to be mostly fairly bad. The Waldhaus was excellent in comparison. The lake area is lovely, and the hotel was spotless and comfortable, though the decor reminded us of Ikea. The owner is doing his best to make a fair living and to satisfy Western tastes. And it also shows. If you happen to be in the Mittweida area looking for a place to stay, Id recommend it. The restaurant was really good, bow.

I was fortunate enough to be on a business trip and my hotel relocated to the Waldhaus Lauenhain! This property gave me the impression that I had traveled back in time to a destination lakeside resort. This hotel is located in a lovely little valley along the zschopau river, just a short distance from chemist and Mittweida. The hotel has maintained the architecture and charm of its period, and the rooms are modestly furnished, each with a river view. The dining room served very good regional cuisine, and the atmosphere was warm and like a resort lodge complete with river views. Breakfast was served in the breakfast dining room with a view of the river valley and basic European breakfast options.

The hotel benefits from free wifi. I have stayed here twice. The rooms are basic, but clean and well kept. The hotel is very quiet. Breakfast is typical continental, but it benefits from a freshly made coffee that is provided as a self service. Can recommend the restraint, ate twice on a recent trip. The steak was excellent value at 15 euros. The dunked beer is a delight.
