We stumbled across this retreat almost by accident and it was the highlight of our trip to Greece. We’ve traveled the entire country and seen the most amazing places but the Ambelona Retreat is in its a class of its own. From the amazing service from our host George, to the phenomenal views and architecture, this place can only be described as magical. We will 100% be back and I can’t wait. Thank you!!

Abeilona Retreat is a beautiful property with a gorgeous view of the mountains and wonderful landscaping, and a lovely room with a deck with view of the mountains . We had a delicious dinner and wonderful breakfast with many options. The woman who runs the retreat was helpful and nice and she told us the eggs were local down the road which I quite enjoyed . The restaurant is in a bucolic sparsely populated area. It is best to travel by day as some of the roads are narrow. Once you get to the small village you need to drive up a short narrow road and you can’t see the hotel from the Main Street. We got a little turned around so we called but a man from the hotel came down to greet us.

I arrived to the Abeliona retreat riding my bicycle. The hotel is located in a quiet and beautiful secluded place in the mountains. The girl is located near the temple of Apollo Epikouros. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

In the mountains, a complete escape from stress. Great room overlooking mountains with terrace. Complete peace and relaxation, away from it all. Somewhat difficult to find but that is part of its charm. Good meal and great breakfast

Great food and wonderful items and we have a very nice night. We are staying at Alderman Hotel and decided to eat there. The restaurant is on the beach with excellent views.

The employees here worked very well, especially the manager, who also knew the locals very well, their staff were very kind. They also have a huge room. They also give us the hot tub. The bed was so comfy, the TV was so cool, and the shower was so cool. The bathroom was so large. The bathroom was so quiet, even the bed was so hot. The atmosphere was so romantic with the fireplace.

I have been there three times with a group, but it is a very romantic place to come back with my wife. The hotel has nice amenities that I don't use but our students really enjoy. The internet is great better when I'm not competing with all our students who all get on at once.

We planned to stay here, but it didn't go as planned. Prices are way too high for what you get. Our room was not clean, but after you mention it, they cleaned it again, which we of course appreciated. Maybe we oversimplified the retreat word because you could say there is nothing to do. We hiked which was okay. Despite the fact that I have to say that they did a great job highlighting the routes you can follow. I think this location is more for Greek people trying to escape busy life, but as a tourist we think it is nice to have at least a small restaurant nearby but now you are very dependent on the hotel which was food quality okay but not excellent.

The treks there were so amazing, especially to the epicapollo temple nearby. And then, the location was so picturesque and remote. Subsequently, the feel of the place was so rustic. Besides that, the comfort was great, they provided a range of amenities.

Lovely, lovely inn located in a fairly remote part of Greece. We liked that about it, as it was a gorgeous, natural area. Thankfully, the hotel serves excellent homemade food with incredible views!

This is a tough hotel to review. We were clearly there in the off-season. In fact, we were the only guests. It's not particularly easy to get to, as it sits up in the hills rather far from any obvious tourist destination. I think the hotel intends to be a "get away from it all" resort with yoga and meditation. This makes more sense in the summer, but was a little strange in the winter when we were certainly away from it all and alone. The facilities are stunning and if they were filled up with more people, would be quite lovely. The complex of small villas and rooms steps up the hillside with a beautiful view down the valley. Everything is made of stone and very cohesive. Breakfast was massive--the staff cooked enough for a whole resort and fed it all to the three of us! It was very local, homemade and satisfying though.

Don't risk your vacation on this property. It can only be accessed by bouncing over hours of mud-hole and boulder strewn mountain paths. After making a pre-paid reservation here through Orbitz in April, we arrived there in October to find the property closed and abandoned. So our family was left stranded in the remote mountains, virtually no GPS, no dinner, no lodging, in the dark and cold. Finally got ahold of someone on the phone who read a prepared statement and promised to refund our money. A week later, no follow up, no refund. This place is a scam. Stay away.
