We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Though the resort is on the beach the waters could be rough but the pool at the resort is absolutely hugh so it was like swimming at a beach. Close to the beach meant one could take quiet walks on the beach. Resort is just near Five Rathas and energetic tourists can walk to most of the sites as traffic is horrendous and grid locked. Amenities are great, rooms modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet is fantastic. Great choice of menu food day round. Buffet dinner at reasonable cost is fantastic. Staff, especially Kumar at the reception desk, was very helpful and attentive to guests needs. Room service is prompt. Kumar also organised transport for us to get to the airport. All in all wonderful, relaxing experience amongst bustling Mahabalipuram! Lovely quiet gardens to wander around as well.

If you want to enjoy a resort with private beach and loads of peace, this is the place to be. It is beautiful and scenic, an old resort but enjoyed every day. The food at the restaurant and hospitality is superb

Stay was comfortable, service by the staff was friendly and quick. The resort is well-maintained, and it has good outdoor and indoor games and children play area. Had a good time with family. Has a private access to beach and well maintained large swimming pool (but no separate kids pool area). Is close to many monuments which are a must visit for anyone coming to Mahabalipuram.

We realized why the deal seemed so cheap! It was at the hottest time of the year. We soon learned to go out very early to walk, or swim in enormous pool, and then rest in the well air conditioned room during middle of the day, them go out around 4pm. Free WiFi was good and TV provided some good shows. Hotel will soon have Ayervedic Spa with many treatments offered. Mahabalipuram has amazing history - located near the very ancient Five Rathas, (Five Chariots, 5th Century) sculptured from original rocks on one base. Walk early in morning. As well some beautiful temples just a short taxi trip away. Local markets nearby (Walk or Auto rickshaw). A taxi ride to village of Mahabalipuram - had ATM's and Pharmacies & was interesting & worth a visit. Loved how it was not over commercialized.

Peace, tranquility and enjoyable experience is synonymous with Chariot resort. Had a extremely satisfying experience during my stay here. Very strategically, walk-able distance to world heritage site and private beach makes this is as a dream holiday destination. Good maintenance and every staff was very cordial and friendly

A perfect place to stay after an exhausting trip round Southern India. Rooms are clean, staff very friendly and the food good. The cottages facing the Indian Ocean are excellent as they always have a breeze. The hotel is only 15 minutes walk from the town which is a busy, enjoyable place to eat in and visit the wonderful historic sites.

Like: Location walkable into town and the rock carvings. On a large plot running down to the sea and huge pool. Cottage was spacious with view over golf course to the sea. Staff friendly and helpful. Large comfortable bed. Dislike: Sunbeds need renewing. 2 of stairs into pool broken. Litter not cleared away.No chairs/ sun beds on the beach and unfinished buildings next to the beach. Resort needs some TLC which may have started as lobby area being renovated.

The hotel needs a refresh of paint and new bathrooms (it looks shabby in some places), but the pool is spectacular and the staff are really nice. Restaurant is great too...
