With my wife, I had the pleasure of staying at the Castillo di Baccaresca when we were hunting for a wedding venue. The accommodations were both comfortable and spacious, and the hotel restaurants cuisine was excellent, particularly the trufflebased dishes. The hotel director was extremely helpful and showed us around all the rooms and outdoor spaces we could have for our wedding reception. Due to the abundance of rooms available, it is perfect for weddings. In addition, the surroundings are lovely, swathed in forests, and close to the medieval town of Gumbo. I wholeheartedly recommend staying there, and I want to thank the director and employees for being so concerned with us and making our stay so enjoyable.

This hotel is situated in the hills and offers so much to choose from. There is a good amount of room, a well-maintained pool, a large cozy lounge, and outdoor seating areas. The castle is home to all bedrooms, each with its distinctive high ceilings. Although the rooms are large, they do lack some storage and seating areas. To enjoy the breathtaking vistas, it would be preferable to have a coffee table and two comfortable chairs by the window rather than an additional bed in the room. Halfboard appears to be the norm, but there is also the possibility to choose from the a la carte menu for half the stated price, which gives more choices. The food is generally italian, and there is a reasonably priced wine list. A complimentary glass of prosecco before dinner is a nice touch. While staying, there were a large number of English and American guests, which is somewhat unusual. While general staff were friendly and helpful, key areas, including the bar and reception, weren't always staffed, which is a nice touch. Considering its position, many guests arrive with a car. For those of us without a car or would rather leave their cars behind a dinnertime set menus available to guests so they can decide if they want to eat from those or the a la carte option.

My companion and I stayed at this wonderful castle for a week. I was eager to spend a week at a 17th century castle. It is located on a hill, which is a brief hike from the parking lot, and provides beautiful views of the british countryside. There is no indication as to how to enter the hotel or where the reception desk is. Be prepared to transport your own luggage up stone stairs and across a big flagstone terrace. There is no bellhop or cart. Our room was clean and the mattresses were comfortable. There was a large armoire with four wire hangers and no dresser. As a result we couldnt actually unpack. The bathroom had a hairdryer mounted on the wall, which was ridiculously low on the wall, requiring you to stoop to dry your hair. The downstairs restaurant was lovely and we ate several delicious meals there. The gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce and walnuts was very memorable. Breakfast, which never varied other than the saltiness of the ubiquitous scrambled eggs, was alright. It was boring and the bacon was nearly raw, but it was nourishing, and the coffee was fantastic. It was a little too warm for the pool when we were there in October, but I imagine it would be fantastic on a hot summer day. This hotel was a nice home base for visiting

In October, we spent ten days in this beautiful hotel. The countryside here is beautiful. It is a fantastic location to stay while exploring Maria even though the hotel is about 15 minutes from Gumbo. The service was excellent. Both the breakfast buffet and the dinner dishes were excellent and well prepared. Some foods were not served hot. The waiters were helpful and worked extremely hard, despite the fact that they appeared understaffed some days.
