Great location. Right by a subway, shopping and Gion district. Love the daily breakfast serve in room so we’re set for the day. The best part is free water, coffee, beers, soda, and sake in the lobby.

We adored this hotel — perfect location in walkable Kyoto, delightfully tech-enabled room, and attentive staff. So many thoughtful touches like handwritten notes, China dishes in the room, sheet masks. The staff were so gracious and helped with everything we needed.

Hotel Alza was located in a great spot. It’s in Gion - close enough to all the great sights you can walk, but far enough away so you’re not trampled leaving the hotel. There is a kombini on the next block, and many many great restaurants. You’re also less than 10 mins walk to the shopping district. The staff were helpful and always available. But they are also discreet. Room ammenities were also thoughtful - face masks, heating eye patches, toe separators. All very considered for a long day on your feet! The bath boasts a “milky bath” option. The shower was firm and great. The bed was comfortable. There was also plenty of closet and drawer space to feel settled. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Gion and at Hotel Alza.

This hotel is something special. In a very quiet area of Gion, this boutique hotel is amazing. Our room was a corner two bed and it was HUGE. Top notch amenities. Electric controlled blinds and curtains, separate toilet room with quite the magical bidet that seat opens when you enter the room. Great tub and a wet bath shower. The service and staff was unmatched. You can’t go wrong staying here.

Perfect location in Gion, and just steps away from Pontocho. Rooms are spacious, and superior rooms have balconies overlooking the river, as well as windows that open to get fresh air. The one caveat is that people smoke on the balconies, so you can't really leave the windows open if you don't enjoy cigarette smoke.

The rooms and staff are amazing, so I plan on staying here again. The bathtubs with fizzy bubbles are kind of a gimmick, especially if you are used to strong jacuzzi’s. Really liked the room delivered breakfast (breakfast in bed!), but the “Western” breakfast has a strong Japanese influence to it.

We loved our stay at Hotel Alza Kyoto. The staff was polite and kind, and helped forward our luggage to our hotel in Tokyo (for a fee). The room was spacious, clean, and the quietest we'd ever stayed in. It's slightly off the beaten path, yet within 3 minutes of the Sanjo JR station, 5 minutes of the Sanjo Keihan subway station, and within walking distance to Nishiki Market. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is about a 30-minute walk, partly uphill. A bus will get you close to Philosopher's Path. The 7-Eleven down the street was great for morning coffee, snacks, and even noodle bowls. Would definitely stay there again.

The room was very clean, larger than average, and very nice. Loved the small boutique vibe, and the staff was just awesome. They were so helpful with getting taxis and help with the train. Breakfast was traditional Japanese style served in our room. Great room amenities and atmosphere. Love it! We would definitely stay there again.
