Onset is unfortunately only open from 1100 am to 1000 pm during the day and popular with groups arriving by bus, but quiet from 900 pm until closing, with an outside pool with garden view that is very attractive. There are no decent restaurants nearby and the restaurant closes early. Excellent breakfast in a private room looking out onto the garden See photos. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Kimiidera Temple and 10 minutes from Kimiidera or station. I would return for the beginning despite the drawbacks.

This is a basic hotel that is somewhat drab and outdated. The building was bare, with a brown decor and walls. However, the beds were clean, the bathroom had a good cleanliness, and the fridge was ok. There is no English spoken, but the staff was friendly. The traditional Japanese-onset spa is superb, clean, and well-managed. We stayed here because it was close to the harbor. Due to the sailing competition, the hotel was full, so I sat out the breakfast and dinners, which are probably excellent. My husband works here. Trains run in five minutes, making it handy for trains going further along the coast or to central Wawakayama. A 20-minute walk through farmglasshouses to a long concrete boardwalk that leads to stunning beaches, the famous fish market, and Europe theme park. Each night, it costs 13 00 yen.
