This place is a very transitional place where you can experience japanese culture. There is a bar and restaurant where you can have a japanese breakfast, a small garden and a small outside ryokan! The staff are very nice and speak english well. However, as with other transitional accommodation, most of the area is small to live for weston people.

子供達がお世話になりました。 部屋がすごくよかった。お風呂がない部屋の予定がお風呂付きになっていて喜んでいました。朝食が美味しかったと大満足の様子でした。

It was my first time staying at a ryokan and this place was the cutest. The staff were incredibly nice. The room was small but I was by myself so it wasn’t a problem. Everything was very clean! Towels are 100 yen extra. Only body wash and shampoo provided in the bathroom so bring your own toiletries. Walls are thin for sure but they offer ear plugs so it was fine. My main transport hub was the Kyoto station. It was about a 15 minute walk away. There are convenience stores and a supermarket between Kyoto station and the ryokan, so it was easy to pick up food on the way back to the ryokan. A great budget ryokan and I would definitely return.

Lovely location - walked here in 15mins from Kyoto station. easy to follow instructions at the Ryokan to find their reception and bike rental office which are separate, but just a few houses away. Can walk to downtown area from here in around 20 mins. We avoided buses as they seemed very crowded and not much quicker than walking. Rented bikes from here for 600 yen each on our last day which was a revelation and great fun, just research bike parking locations before you leave! Double room was pleasant with good, clean, small ensuite. We were lucky that we had quiet, respectful neighbours over 3 nights but if someone is a powerful snorer etc, you will hear them! Lovely, helpful reception staff. Many thanks for a great stay

It’s very culturally fascinating and historic, however in terms of the conditions, it’s not for everyone. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan. It’s the real thing.

Didn't get to enjoy it as much but Kazu, our host, is amazing. I love their free pick up service. A great start and finish to your trip is always how to get there and how to leave. That is really important and I wish a lot of places offered free transportation like Kazu does. Very friendly and always answered with a smile and a great attitude.

직원 분들도 너무나 친절하게 자세히 알려주셔서 너무 좋았어요~~ 일본어가 안되도 영어로 친절하게 설명해주세요~ 료칸 방도 너무나 깨끗하고, 파자마로 유카타도 입을 수 있어서 좋은 것 같아요~ 조금만 돈을 첨가하여 조식까지 먹는다면.. 일본 가정에 놀러와서 지낸 기분이예요~ 교토여행을 가서 여기 료칸에서 자게된다면 교토여행이 백배 더 좋아질거예요~

Free Wi-Fi in room, A/C, hot and cold running water, common area with laundry machines, English-speaking and very friendly staff, a small restaurant and bar, and walking distance from Kyoto Station. The house is made of traditional building materials, so the walls are pretty thin and you can sometimes hear people in the other rooms. But everyone generally follows the house rules and keeps the volume down. If you're looking for something more traditional, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
