The Richmond Hotel is a beautiful hotel in Kyoto with an unbeatable location- just steps from Kyoto Station, a 7-Eleven, and a shopping mall with a great food hall. It made the perfect home base for exploring Kyoto. One of the highlights of our stay was the warm and welcoming staff. The hotel also offers fun cultural activities throughout the day. We had the chance to make our own traditional fans, which was a memorable experience. They also offered materials to make a glass wind chime, but we did not have time to participate- and I definitely regret missing out! The complimentary amenities were another thoughtful touch. Guests could help themselves to face towels, hair oil capsules, face wash packets, lotion packets, toothbrushes, and other toiletries. During certain hours, the dining area also offered complimentary ice cream, light appetizers, and even sake and wine tasting, which added a special touch to our stay. Our room was a bit on the smaller side- with three beds, a shower room, and a separate toilet room, but it was clean, organized, and comfortable. Overall, We really enjoyed our stay at the Richmond Hotel in Kyoto. Between its excellent location, friendly staff, unique amenities, and fun guest activities, it's a hotel we would gladly book again on our next visit to Kyoto.

A somewhat luxary experience at a reasonable price. We enjoyed the free ice cream and drinks numerous times. There was a free craft where we painted wind chimes, a nod to a local wind chime festival, that the family loved and made great souvenirs. For the most part everything in the room was great and comfortable. The location is mostly very good but the 5-10 minute walk to the train station does get repetitive, but it's good value for the money and everything you want for food is nearby. I liked the double sink bathroom. I have a few suggestions for improvement. These are just nitpicks, overall really liked the hotel. - the 4 bed room is really a 2 bed room with the cots set up, which is fine, it's still spacious enough for Japan. But there was only 2 hooks for towels when there is a lot of wall space in the bathroom. Should be at least 4 hooks if it's sometimes a 4 bed room. - the TV based system for room cleaning is silly. Our room got cleaned when we asked for it not to be, and they had a laminated apology note indicating it happens a lot. Just stick to the note on the door system then; if it's not broken you can't fix it. - the light in the toilet was an automatic sensor, but when you get up in the middle of the night you don't want a full bright light... again it's a case of the hotel doing too much to its own detriment.

This hotel was fantastic! Great location, close to Kyoto station, clean, staff was super helpful, they provided many items such as face masks, hair oil, toothpaste, toothbrush, coffee, tea, etc… we did not try the breakfast but they have a happy hour with nuts, juices, beers, etc. Richmond hotel made our Kioto stay memorable!

Very convenient location if you’re into visiting other cities nearby like Osaka and Nara. The hotel is very clean and looks quite new with big rooms. Love the free afternoon snack and evening drinks.

The hotel is within walking distance from the Kyoto train station and very well connected with the rest of the city by bus and subway. Breakfast had a great variety of options of both Japanese and Western dishes, but breakfast area can get really crowded because people tend to linger longer. There were also afternoon coffee, tea, and snacks, and happy hours with free drinks at night. Our room was spotless and very modern. The staff was very attentive and polite. We really enjoyed our stay.

Petite chambre pour 3, mais tout le reste était parfait. L'hôtel est près de la gare si vous avez beaucoup de déplacement à faire. Le déjeuner est très bon avec plusieurs choix ! Ils offrent des après-midi avec café, gâteaux, et crème glacée. Le soir, c'est des apéros avec bière, vin et saké. Ils offrent également des petites activités en après-midi genre dessins, décorations, etc. Je recommande l'hôtel !

Traveling with my kids and our stay was great. Like the location of this hotel, it’s just 7 minutes away from the Kyoto Station. The breakfast buffet is very nice. They also have complementary afternoon tea and snack. My kids also enjoyed the free craft event. I would like to stay at this hotel again.
