I’m so glad The Gate Hotel finally opened a location in Sapporo! I always stay at this hotel chain every time I’m in Tokyo ! Excellent location about 8 minutes walk from Sapporo station via subway level and never have to go up to street level! Great winner is raining or snowing. The only negative was the construction across the street can be noisy from time to time and they work through the night on some days of the week! The entire staff was very helpful & friendly! The reception is on the 10th floor and have to switch elevator to get to our rooms! The breakfast is a bit inconsistent but never overcrowded during our 5 night stay! A huge plus was the hotel shipped two of my luggage to Tokyo’s Ryogoku location at no cost!

The hotel was very new and the facilities fits well for a comfortable stay in Sapporo. The location is by far its biggest highlight given the short distance to Sapporo station and underground connection to the main underground walkway. You can reach all the key central areas without worrying the weather outside. As for the rooms, it's super big for a Japanese hotel and great views given its high floors (lobby sits at level 10 and all hotel rooms are above it). Though I expect most good hotels in Sapporo gives a wide variety of food choices in their buffet breakfast, the breakfast here was good in quality but not the top in terms of choices. More than good enough for a few days staying at The Gate Sapporo. The public bath was a small area but decent and tidy. When there's a public bath facility in a hotel, I tend to use it all the time instead of my own room. For this hotel I particularly liked the hair dryer there - it's super.

The hotel location is superb, right in the heart of Sapporo. It offers easy access to Sapporo Station (Namboku and Toho Lines) and is also within walking distance to Odori and Susukino via the underground passage. Do note that the underpass connection closes at 10:30 pm, so it is best to return to the hotel before then. The room was very clean and well-maintained throughout my stay. However, there was a slightly unusual experience regarding housekeeping. As I did not require room cleaning during my 6-night stay, I initially declined the service. Despite this, the hotel staff insisted on conducting housekeeping on Day 4, citing it as their policy to clean every few days. I was not given the option to refuse, and when I continued to decline, the staff came in briefly to do what appeared to be a quick inspection of the room. This felt somewhat unnecessary, as it is unlikely for guests to cause any significant issues within just a few days. Nonetheless, aside from this, the overall experience was positive, and I would consider staying here again.

Very clean room, a little tight quarters but well-laid out and the location really can’t be beat if you’re coming from Sapporo station. Didn’t try the breakfast, but the staff all seemed very courteous and professional.
