The staff was amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful. They planned restaurant reservations for us. Once we arrived, they found out that my wife was allergic to dairy and they contacted each restaurant telling them of this. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was excellent and we had excellent service there.

I loved our stay at Junei Hotel Kyoto. Our room was wonderfully clean, spacious, and I loved the Hinoki private bath. The breakfast each day subtly changed and was an excellent add on! The bed was super comfortable and the amenities were a bonus. Lastly, the towels were the softest and more comfortable that I’ve ever felt!

The Junei Hotel in Higashiyama was one of the most beautiful and classy hotels that we ever stayed!! The hotel room was so special, and truly zen!! (with zen like music playing in the room). The staff was so kind, helpful and professional! The Japanese Breakfasts were the most elegant breakfasts we’ve ever had. They were so thoughtfully prepared and served!! The location was excellent! We’d highly recommend Junei Hotel in Higashiyama!!!

Chambre spacieuse et traditionnelle. Personnel très aimable. Petit déjeuner japonais quasiment identique tous les matins, ce qui peut être difficile à la longue. Des propositions plus occidentales auraient été appréciées pour des séjours de plus d’une nuit.

The Junei Hotel Kyoto will leave you relaxed and rejuvenated. The rooms have clean lines and there is a cedar tub to relax in after a day of sight seeing. And the breakfast in the morning is not to be missed. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lovely hotel with super friendly and helpful staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The rooms were spotless with a lovely Japanese aesthetic - a little bit of Japanese culture was a really nice touch. The minibar items, although limited, were all complementary. We had a king bed and an extra bed for my 19 year old son - both were extremely comfortable and the sheets really crisp yet soft. I found it more comfortable than the Peninsula in Tokyo. The location was great for us. Walk to some attractions, and a short taxi ride to the train and the main restaurant spot/down town. The front desk ordered a taxi within a few minutes. If we ever return to Kyoto we would definitely stay there again.

This is a wonderful stay and my best experience so far at Japan. People are super friendly. When you arrival, there is welcoming black tea. Room is very clean. Snacks and drinks are delicious and free! Bedding, bathing, showering are all great, comfortable and clean. Also this place is located in very quiet neighborhood. Convenient transportation to most attractions

Great hotel, staff, and location. The street is quiet and peaceful which is nice as other parts of Kyoto can be hectic. However, the hotel is walking distance from many areas and very central. The staff was great. I would highly recommend booking a rooftop session to use the sauna and cold plunge on the roof. The breakfast was traditional Japanese and delicious.

A truly wonderful small hotel. A very soothing bedroom, beautifully designed with its own onsen bath. Lots of thoughtful and generous touches, without being over the top. (No outside view because windows are screened, but that added to the sense of serenity.) The bath was a wonderful way to end the day. Superb location, not far from Gijon and the sights to the east of Kyoto, in a lovely quiet area. Best of all are the staff. They are outstandingly helpful, thoughtful and kind. They also came up with eating recommendations and were immensely friendly and useful when I had a problem affecting onward travel. A great team! Strongly recommended.

Clean rooms. Well appointed with coffee/tea/snacks and mini bar. Very relaxing. Restaurant was very good for dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast (NOT Western style if that is your hope) walkable to transit, convenience stores, restaurants and some traditional temple sites. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend!

The Junei Hotel Kyoto is a serene gem, close to everything but peacefully tucked away. Our Deluxe King Room was a beautiful blend of tradition and comfort, with tatami floors, a spacious onsen-style bath, and lovely skincare. The staff were absolutely wonderful: warm, friendly, and so helpful. We did not want to leave, will come back for sure!

Junei is not a full service hotel. Staff is kind. It has 10 special rooms for lovers & couples. Not centrally located. Expedia did this in Dubrovnik also. They advertised a hotel & I was in a house with an Australian couple. This is unfair, Expedia. There are other services we can move to!
